Cleaning anything with cold water is just plain stupid. After all, we don't own Recoils! So, did you use your heat like Bill Sourpus suggested, or what?
When we clean wool rugs in the shop, if it's a bleeder, we use cold water. When we clean viscose rugs, we use cold water, silk area rugs, we use cold water. Blood/milk/egg removal, we use cold water. There is a time for heat and a time not use it. Hot water is fine for wool broadloom in a home or office within reason. I probably wouldn't use a kero fired burner turned up to the max on it.Cleaning anything with cold water is just plain stupid. After all, we don't own Recoils!
Was that sour enough for ya!
Pictures look good. Lot's of us would be terrified to do that kind of work. I have a custom goat hair carpet job coming up in the fall. I'll maybe try the same thing120°ish
