I'm a very sad dog owner today.

Our female bully is VERY dog aggressive, we can't take her anywhere off leash and even the simplest walk can be tough if we come across other pets. We've had a few scens over the years that were near fatal for the other dog. Paid a vet bill of two.
She a very active dog that would love to go with us hiking and fishing but we cant take the risk.
One thing I have been able to do is take her on peddle bike ride where I keep here leash tight and let her pull me. If she sees another animal I usually can pull her in tight and she remains focused on the run.

Until yesterday when a German Sheppard tied up in the yard made her ignore my control efforts and she plowed me right over at high speed.

A spectacular crash with me getting all wrapped in the bike occurred, torn clothes, skin and more bruises than I can count.

We walked home and she got an earful. My depression over the lack of things to do with her is worse than the bumps and blood. She could have a really great life, going all sort of places with me if not for the bully aggression.
Never again.
Only mutts or Labs for now on.

She knows she really fvcked up too....

AW...such a bummer to hear this Mike. I know how much you love animals and want to give them the life they deserve. It's a shame her wiring doesn't allow her to have experiences like this. Have you tried working with an animal behaviorist like the dog whisper?

Bummer, Mike. So sorry. Our 3 year old lab/catahoula hound mix still doesn't obey commands to "come". He's a great dog but this one aspect of his behavior is troubling sometimes. I'm letting him off leash here and there hoping he will come when I want him to but most of the time he doesn't respond. Leash walks are pretty much all we can do. Hoping he'll improve or that I won't care.

Our lab Sheppard mix likes small animals and other dogs, so leash law for Benny.

When you say bully - what breed are you talking about? Bulldog, bull terrier, bull mastiff, pit bull etc,???

If I was closer I would see what I could do...but this was a bad day and I'm sure there have been plenty of good ones.
Would give advice and it would probably be something you already tried etc. Wrong format to help. But I'm a phone call away and maybe some experience I have had will give you a direction to work the dog... maybe not.
Horse and dog training is a hobby. Helped a few people that were ready to give up with various issues.
Bulldogs are tougher than most. Great dogs though.

If you find a Trainer/ Training School/ Rescue Group, you want one who primarily works with working dogs, pitts, GSD and Malinois .
You will do the actual training under their supervision but they are going to understand what your dog is doing.
Canine Good Citizen Training and right after do the advanced Canine Good Citizen Training.
Working dog trainers are different than pet trainers...almost useless in your case... because they have tools to keep the dog focused.
Canine Good Citizen 1 and 2 - It is really fun to do for the dog and the owner. http://www.akc.org/dog-owners/training/canine-good-citizen/

I have always had dogs. Are dogs are small but they are very difficult to take out. I can't even imagine having one that is big and having issues with it. Sorry to hear about your dog and I'm sure she will still have a great life even if she has to live vicariously through you to do it.

Maybe he does not like other people (dogs) like that one guy on this board...so by taking him out to "explore" is more for you rather then him...

I agree with Bob P. Not all training classes are equal. Much easier to start when they are a pup but older dogs can still be trained. Older owners, not so much.

My youngest dog loves to nibble and chew on poop. And he is so adorable and loves to give kisses...

They can be very stubborn, can also ignore the pain so a spiked choke collar would probably have zero effect. The breed has a bad reputation, but can be some of the sweetest dogs ever. The dad or the pups rarely go where they can't see me.

Used to have a golden retriever that was very aggressive like that. You just never know tho when dogs will go crazy. I was bit in the face by a friends German shepherd that I had been around numerous times. Was always friendly and I was only petting him.

My 2 dobies below tho are great with people and dogs. Since a young age, always took them to dog parks and around people etc.

Just don't let her bite a person. Usually you have to chain them (which all dogs hate) or execute them.

One day I'll tell you what that feels like.

Now get busy healing.

**** GRAPHIC *******

This is what happened to me randomly at a Superbowl Party, petting a friend of a friends dog that I mentioned above. I can't believe I found the pic. Was from 2008. People still ask me if I am afraid of dogs after that. Hell no! Freak shit happens. 58 stitches and 2 front chipped teeth. Could stick my tongue through it. Sorry had to post it. Mods can delete it or ban me all together for its grossness. But this wasn't a case of "becareful of my dog it bites". When people at houses tell me that, I DO stay away.
