With so many urine products- Which one really works?

Assuming you're not disengaging the carpet, replacing pad, treating carpet from both sides etc. And with so many products out there, which one works the best?
And have you actually tried the other ones?
Did you actually come back afterwards to see it's long lasting effect?

  • Does the acid soak flush followed by oxidizer or enzyme?
  • Enzyme alone? (Seem to need a lot more time for soaking than is practical.)
  • The oxidizer soak alone?
  • Uturn?
  • Unduzit? (obnoxious lingering smell!)
Which method has proven to work best for you and have a lasting effect (assuming the dog/cat/uncle did not go there again?)

OSR for kids dogs and ild people, molecular modifier for cat and wild animals.

Stains don't typically come back but odor can. Usually easier to find exact spots and get it deep enough second time.

Been back to enough to know it did the job.

Trying odorcide but no confidence in it yet but does seem to work good.

I considered several factors -
  • Severity of the problem. Sometimes just an odor with not much staining; sometimes large stains and odor and always contamination.
  • Client's level of tolerance. IS this a pet's will still be in the home and back to the spot in a day, owner's are used to the smell or is this a home to be put up for sale or rented to someone new?
  • Client's budget. They don't get what they don't want to pay for. Make sure they understand the limitations they are putting on the job.
  • Time available to get the job done. My schedule and the client's schedule. Some products like bio-enzymes may work great but take a while to get that point is there is a lot of urine to digest.
An oxidizer, PetZONE with Hydrocide deodorizer included takes 30 to 40 minutes and produces very good results for most jobs.

If the urine is more severe, I like to treat with an acid first. Brand new product, Urine Neutralizer, has worked great in our lab testing and the cleaners who beta tested it for us.

I have used nearly all available products over the past 18 years.... The best one is the one that is being used properly.

Enough dwell time....enough flushing... Enough killing power...and enough payment for all the effort involved. (the latter is the difficult one sometimes... Since new carpet could be about the same price)

The top product is still the one that really takes care of the problem: 9mm...shooting Fifi or aunt Edna and then use the damaged carpet to roll her up in it.

PureForce EOC X2 is all I use now for urine. Smells great, active enzymes that stay alive for 21 days after treatment. Not temperature sensitive, no waiting for it to foam down. Faster dwell times and higher concentrate than Unleashed.

So if fido pisses 3 ounces 3 times a day that's 9 ounces X 4.33 =38.97 a month x 12 months =467.64 ounces time 3 years? =1402.92 /128 ounces (1-gallon)

That's 10.96 gallons of urine over a 3 year period between cleanings.

Do you really think any products we can spray, spritz or soak are going to realistically be effective???

I think its generally a deeper problem than most want to deal with. Removal of carpet, cushion, tack strip, lower drywall. Decontaminate and wash down. Could easily be thousands before any put back begins.

I get the least callbacks when I use an acid pretreatment or water claw vs treating it with Enzymes. Whenever I use enzymes will be after it's already been flushed as a post spray.

For those that think UPS is too strong...replace the UPS with your acid rinse. It smells great and works just as good, if not better and cheaper.

Enzymes just take too long to screw with it to use it by itself

Lots of products work osr with a splash of cide. Pet stain off if you can get on the stain, un duz it!

Kill odor plus or saiger cide with grease eater for small pets that wheeze the juice!

I have some petzone work as good as Cobbs osr, Cobbs had a fragrance he just said it doesn't anymore! None of the osr type products reek!

Agree with the concept. But the math is wrong. There are more than 4.33 days in a month. Should be times 30 days or maybe add in a times 7 to go from days to weeks.

Or simply 9 ounces times 365 days in a year to simplify the formula. 9 x 365 = 3285 ounces / 128 = 25 .66 gallons per year or 77 gallons for 3 years.

I think the key is not the specific chemistry, there are good options form several sources, but being sure to flush out the urine. The Water Claw is a great tool. The new Water Claw with the water injection is even better for really flushing out the urine no matter what chemical you applied.

Since he's an office Jockey, we all assumed he knew his math.
Turns out we were wrong :winky:

We are not talking real solution here, we know that if the problem is repetitious, nothing short of replacement of pad etc. will work. And most homeowners will not pay for that, not talking about the fact that if it reaches that level of abuse total replacement is likely to be a better alternative.

So it is more about what band aid works better and substantially reduces the smell noticeable to the owner.

I have used a lot of products over the years.

The one product that works is dymon alive

Clean as you usual do.
Than soak area with dymon.
Than walk away

Dymon is cheap

It has done a great job for me
No call backs

I was told by Jim, the guy who owns (or used to) Bio-Kleen that the difference between the enzyme style products is:
  1. How many kind of enzymes cultures are used
  2. And enzyme count. (meaning how many per oz or whatever).
According to him, their live enzyme product (bacout) had more of both. Hard to check and know with certainty, as no manufacturer that I know provides these numbers.

Maybe one of the reps here can chip in.
