I have looked at a couple of used cds vans, and it seems the old guys, when the speed control quits, just chop a broom handle or adapt a length of threaded rod to jam between the seat and gas pedal. There's always the excuse that "i didn't like the speed control". WTF?
Safety concerns aside, how would you like to have to adjust your seat every time you wanted to engage the cleaning unit, and fiddle with it to get proper engine rpms?
Wouldn't a proper replacement module or push/pull throttle give more peace of mind?

They fixed it so they could finish a job or work for the day and realized it works. How many home projects do most of us have that are 90% done? But the roof isn't leaking so life goes on.

Last summer I bought a new tub and surround for one of my bathrooms. It will be a tear out and replace... Still not done...

obviously stoopit ones
everybody knows an adjustable pole eliminates the need to move the seat

the hacks use these cheap ones

the pro's use the better ones

10 bucks says this fellow is from the south... Or he learned this trick from a southerner.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

It's a magnet, right?

UncaErnie was 78 years old when I bought this van from him via his nephew. It would take quite a few years of no maintenance to achieve the results of this unit.
He had the install done in Ohio somewhere, I'm sure a local yokel could have done better.

You'd be surprised how many people would use a puller to remove that pulley

Did you notice the custom made bracket for the clutch/alternator? Hand made by cutting out metal from the unit cage.
The drive shaft seems to work fine, but I will pull it out anyways for bearing replacement prior to reassembly.
