I would charge $200 plus pick up and delivery. I don't think I have ever had an olefin rug ripple like that. Probably because I hang and dry them.

The ripple the second you Prespray them, I can't imagine how you've never seen this before
I have 2 hanging in the shop right now. Both 8x10's. No rippling. Maybe it's just happening on the thinner ones. I don't really notice in the shop. I think by the time they dry, any rippling goes away. Most of the olefin rugs I do have a binding. Unless there is something in the backing to cause shrinkage, it shouldn't ripple.

Yep, I have had customers pay more to clean than the rug cost to buy... sentimental value I guess. Some just really like the colors/pattern and can’t find that rug anywhere. Then there are some just can’t tell the difference

You may not be getting the rug wet enough. If it ripples when you prespray, it's because the wet part is pulling away from the dry parts. If it is wetted more thoroughly, I think you will have less problems. In the shop, we are usually prespraying, then shampooing with a 175, then rinsing. Even without a washpit, the rug is pretty uniformly wet. Although the yarn is olefin, chances are that there is cotton threads holding everything together. If it's unevenly wet, it will unevenly dry.

This is rarely a concern when properly washing these, when you hack these out using HWE it probably is more common.

I can't remember one not laying flat after washed and completely heat dried.

Maybe this is the proof some of you need to realize steam cleaning these in the driveway is not the best way....regardless if they're machine made synthetics....but that's crazy talk

I don't kick the price of cleaning up on a 20K rug and I don't drop the price on 8x10 109.00 Costco special my price is
relative to what we need to charge to run a business. Are you going guarantee urine removal at a price competitive to it's low, low retail?

That said, many rugs being made will not last long enough to see a cleaning or where cleaning at any price makes sense. Recently my personal record was broken the previous record was brand new rug about 5 months old eco silk on a living room floor toast! last month the rug didn't make it to the clients home sprouting and unraveling it was rejected.
This is the part you want to listen to it came to use for shearing but shearing made it fuzz and unravel even more even Vacuuming the rug causes to the shed, sprout and unravel, the rug was unserviceable. I'd love to see what a CRB, Cimex or wand would do to one of these

Hey-- Fred! I never got my Mikey decoder ring.
Im having trouble understanding what he isnt saying! He left some of his thoughts/message in his brain still. :eekk::stir:

13 years and he's still a puzzlement to me......

In "The Chosen" a rabbi would give long and complicated commentaries on the Torah over dinner, and within it make an omission or error to test his son's knowledge and attention.

Mikey is such a man.

How do you explain this to your customers...
'Ma'am the ripples are caused by differential shrinkage / or expansion. There are cotton and polypropylene fibers in the rug and they react differently to the moisture being absorbed from the concrete floor.'

When cleaning, I clean both sides, that seems to equal out the rug so that it won't curl or ripple. The top is presprayed and scrubbed, the back, the wand is run over it.

And where do you dry it?

Eco-silk, man-made silk, art-silk, it's all viscose. I have successfully used a crb with Host on some. They weren't heavily soiled and it was done at the customers risk. There seems to be a vast difference in the quality of some viscose fibres. Eventually, they will all break down, it's just a matter of time.

I recently got 10 rugs to clean. When I went out to give my estimate I told the lady I would not do the viscose rugs. Well, she snuck one in. Rolled it up with the others. I ended up cleaning it but very carefully. I misted a little encap juice then lightly brushed it in. Then layed the rug in my office and locked the door. I was more nervous about this rug than the wool rugs I had drying out.

An often overlooked part of the rayon cleaning procedure - locking the door.
