Going Tankless

I am taking out my freshwater tank. I hook up to a freshwater supply at every job just to keep it full. My truck mount has a pressure regulator inline. Less than 1% of my jobs do not have freshwater available. Usually, if they don’t have water then they do not have power either, so I’m not going to do the cleaning anyway. So tell me why I should be caring around all this extra weight?

I have more respect for portable or Bane guys than dopes that think running tankless is a good idea

Run filterless , buy an ETM or run your mounts on idle to save gas next.

I have never had a tank. Takes up a lot of room in the truck and the extra weight is harder on the truck and burns more gas. It's rare I can't find water here either outside or in. In a colder climate, I would want to have a tank.

I guess you never had a carpet brown out from rusty water.
I like filling at home from a reliable source of clean soft water. It provides consistency to the final result.

I have only used customers water once a year since I moved here but now take 2 vans to that job so eliminated that one too.

I plan my water fillups so that I'm only carrying it if I might need it. The yuppy subdivisions all have easy access. If I'm out in a rural area I fill up before going. For some reason the older rural homes are harder to access and most are on wells and more likely to have copperheads behind the bushes. If it's just a small two room job I carry just enough.

New (less than 10yr) construction seldom a problem. You WILL eventually run into a "freeze resistant" faucet that is broken. Thus it will leak behind the wall when turned on and connected to your feed hose. After it has happened you will learn to listen for it when you first connect, and turn it off quickly. Usually not quick enough to blow water into a finished basement.

I have a water softener on the van. Never had any dirty tap water issues here.

I've had enough customers say "and he used my water" when bitching about the last guy to be concerned about being tankless.

Yes I know we are talking about a pennies worth but there seems to be a negative perception..
Thankfully people don’t care here. At least not to my face or in reviews online.

Your Butler clutters up more space in that van already. Go ahead and waste more space with a tank of water when you could spend less than 5minutes screwing a hose on a faucet

If you’re in the Arctic part of this country, keep the water tank. But for everywhere else, enjoy a little less clutter

As far as commercial cleaning If you can have 2-300 ft of solution hose you should be able to handle some extra water hose when needed. Especially if you use 3/8 air hose instead of 3/4 garden hose. Plus some adaptors.

I’ve been using 1/4” air hose to be able to hold more hose and it’s lighter for ease of tension if I need to adapt to sink faucets. The down side to that is when high pressure is needed...it has trouble keeping up with the flow of water needed. So I’m gonna size up to 3/8” when this hose wears out

I carry 3 x 50 ft spools of 3/8" air hose with garden hose ends, quick couples and ball valve shut offs on each truck.

Still, I carry water on each truck, never a problem.
