I love my animals. I spend most of my day with my dog. He comes to work with me usually. Rides in the truck most of the summer. Duck hunts with me, goes camping, ect... I'd almost call him a companion dog who has helped me through cancer, helped my wife with her hi polar struggles But they have boundaries because they are not humans. They don't get on furniture or ever go to the bathroom in the house. If they did, I would give them away or kill them. Pet's should be trainable to improve your life, not make it worse, more difficult, or be an inconvenience. They are actually alot happier that way. I hate it when people treat them like humans. The animals that are treated like that are usually miserable. The owners just don't see it.
I have an general amount I'm willing to spend on pet health care even, and if they get an illness and it will cost more than that, I kill them. I hate it, and I've cried over putting animals down in the back yard, but sometimes it's the balanced thing to do, because it's an animal, even if it's a "friend." I could have 500 grand in the bank and I wouldn't spend 20k on cancer care for a dog. Just my opinion.
