I agree with part of Omar's editorial .
the panic and response will cause far more damage than the flu.
saw that some time ago

He might be smArter than me, but can't see the other part;

Not sure I see purposely "wreck the wests'" economies though
don't see how intentionally hurting the US economy benefits China.
Be like putting the dik to your best customer...that don't make no cents

and calling the second largest economy in the world an "emerging" super power, is kinda like saying Amazon's gonna be big some day

Russia?.....fk'em
BD country ruled by corrupt oligarchs that would be hard pressed to do serious economic damage ...even if they wanted to, they can't afford to turn the gas valve off.
(the only leverage they really have)

what I do know is, the frantic arm flailing and hysteria over a GD'd virus is crippling the economy
and perhaps for a very long time

Scotty, beam me the fck up.....

The US is ramping up testing.
My cousin works in a Bay Area hospital (John Muir). They called her in Today to work in the drive thru swab testing. It just got real for her.

The real issue in the US right now?
South Korea is testing 20,000 people a day.
USA has tested a TOTAL of 11,000 people to date.

so what?

what good does "testing" do as a practical matter?
the bug is loose, no one can stop it .

and we know enough now to "indicate" it's not a deadly plague wiping out masses and is a relatively "normal" flu and not particularly virulent.

I'm Glad my "Chicken Little" Personality, prepared me for this.

But Damn-- I choose the wrong time to ignore that fuker and jumped into the market too soon. I also failed to act when this Black swan first showed up.
My 401k is down about 40%.
My personal investment acct. is down 30%

Paranoia sucks-- but so does Denial.
Now I'm in wishful thinking mode that this will end soon :eekk: :dejection:

It's odd that Gold and bitcoin are down and the dollar is up.

Hopefully, the increased testing will prove it's not that bad and the news media will calm the fuk down.-
but then they'll just switch to what it did to the economy.

A lot of people are going to get hurt financially. Places are closing restaurants, bars and pubs, etc. Coffee shops are going take out only. They are trying to slow the spread down so the medical system doesn't get overloaded. I don't think there is any way to stop it. We will all be exposed one way or another. Best to focus on your health and try to boost your immune system as best you can. Eat healthy and exercise

I haven't any special wisdom or insight on this.

I do know that it will change us; it already has actually. Whether it is the public's conduct in grocery stores, or the opportunism some are using in our industry, the changes are already here.

How it changes society as a whole we have no control over.

How it changes us is in our hands.

I heard it once said that circumstances don't create us, they reveal us.

Few times show that as well as these times do.

I’m curious as to how many of you are still cleaning during a lock-down. It’s my understanding that it’s ok since we’re not retail, but is it ethical and how does it appear to the neighbors with a truck humming away outside during a pandemic? The county I live in just went on a 2-week lock-down starting yesterday. I canceled this morning's cleaning with an elderly couple due to risk factor. Still deciding on whether to clean for younger customers who are not concerned about risk.

Larry, what good does testing do?
Really?
People will spread this like WILD FIRE if they unknowingly carry it, and IT WILL TRULY BECOME THE PLAGUE OF THE 21st CENTURY...
It WILL morph into something truly deadly....

We're fully booked right now. It might be a side effect of all the goofballs claiming their carpet cleaning will keep the virus away.

The frantic are hunkered down, so we haven't needed to buy hazmat suits yet.

Interesting, in our ground zero no less.

Can you put Sierra Jeff on a truck before he eats a bullet?

For those of you who have homeless encampments in your towns, once these become infected and the inhabitants continue to move about your cities....

think about that and if the local funds spent on these people wouldn't be better spent elsewhere.....

Don't worry there's a 10 foot rule already in play for years with transient people. Ohhhhhhh Snap.

Homeless hate lol

This bug has already made its way around the country I think. Probably the world.

Unless you test every single person we will never know accurate data on death rates. Only those sick enough get tested or those quarantined on ships. And it doesn't seem like the rate of infection on ships is that bad. And that's where I would think it would spread the fastest.

I think it's all an over reaction that's way to late anyway. But it does show how little it would take to cause mass hysteria and how fragile our food chain is. Maybe we will learn from this but I doubt it.

That, of course, doesn't mean there can't/won't be many deaths from this strain. Possibly in multiple waves.

hopefully .

BUTT....problem is a year from now, folks easily freaked out won't recognize the damage they've caused due to panic'd response by govs and people alike.

as we all know, yes, some folks will tragically pass from complications...that's awful
However, as cruel as it may sound, the world can not stop because of that.

If you or loved ones are one at "hi-risk" of serious complications from the flu, it's your responsibility to protect yourself, not your mommy

If in the biz of caring for sickly and/or infirmed (like nursing homes and health care providers) they too have a responsibility to eliminate exposure as much as possible

but the world can't shut down, or it WILL be the end of the world as we know it
