Here is a photo of a carpet sample that I stained today with tumeric and water. Will be practicing my stain removal techniques in preparation for the real thing next week. After rinsing, I will be using a peroxide/ammonia solution (vanish) along with a steamer. Any other suggestions that have achieved good results for you?

Also , maybe something to consider. I think that often these spices are used in sauces etc. (mustard) which also have some vinegar. That may cause it to set even more.

Here is the final result after treatment. The tumeric seems to be gone. I started with straight ammonia, which turned the tumeric from yellow to red, rinsed with a neutral cleaner to remove any loose product. Mixed my vanish 50/50 and sprayed heavily. Used the wallpaper attachment on my steamer for aprox 1 minute on each section. No rinsing. Left the peroxide on overnight to dry. Next week I get to see if it works on the customers carpet.

Had one this past week. I put on my hero cape and flew out a$ fa$t a$ I could. got there, looked at it. Sprinkled it with priest blessed water....turn turned back away and put my cape back in the glove compartment went home. Total lost.
tumeric supplements smeared by a 3 year old.

the best part for me, discovered a new fishing area. House was along side a three+ mile long, 1/2 mile+ lake... Will be fishing it next week on my 17ft bass tracker yacht. 60E72886-295E-4D21-9BC9-82950CB53B12.jpeg74ECDFCA-23C8-4620-94C0-4A2689111E8D.jpeg

That's a nightmare. It may be possible to remove the majority of it but it's going to take time. At what point is it better just to replace the carpet? Probably looking at 3-4 hours treatment and may have to come back at least once to do a follow up. I hoping the one I'm doing on Tuesday is a little smaller.

So, in real life, the stain removal was an abject failure. The drink he spilled was a mixture of hot chocolate, tumeric and ginger. He tried at least 3 different products before calling me. I started pulling color from the carpet without completely removing the stains. Faded it but it's still there.

That sucks but not much you can do when the customer sets the stain. Great informational thread though.

Cover it with cellophane and put some weight on it. It might be gone next day.

I remove permanent markers that way when they don't come out.
I left enough peroxide to last probably 6-8 hours. It helped a bit but not enough to think a repeat treatment would work. He has enough carpet to effect a repair.

I've always hated patching. The donor comes from a closet, the place the patch goes is worn and faded and it still looks like a patch. You can dance on the donor on concrete to rough it up but it still looks like shite. Doing a patch on looped carpet is nearly impossible to pull off unless you hand sew it but it's gonna zipper sooner or later anyway.

It’s seems to be Robs answers to everything...
For wet side cleaning it has been for the last 19 years. I am continually finding a new situation where it stands head and shoulders over wand cleaning. I even use them for dry pile lifting now as opposed to my Certified machines.
For 'vlm' I utilize the machine in my avatar as my answer to everything. It's hilarious to watch as you guys chase the new holy grail of the moment.

In two weeks it would be gone.
I doubt it. There were too many contaminates. Too many products were used before me. The one I did in the shop was just tumeric and water. Cleaned it the next day. The one in the condo sat for over a week. The owner used at 3 different cleaning agents before calling me. If he had left it alone, I may have had more success. I have removed curry stains in the past but it's always a mixed bag.
