4 or 5 rooms with a 2 person team easily in an hour without hurrying. It's a carefully practiced team effort that keeps the wand moving smoothly.

The 870 can dual, but usually only on big projects or the largest restaurants etc.

The WM dual wands because it has entirely independent blowers and waste tanks. Still more efficient single wanding.

The 405s were once advertised as dual capable, but that's a stretch with a single 47 blower. I only do that on big upholstery jobs.

Anyone "dual wanding" from a single 45 has lower expectations.
I find with a 2 man crew, it's better to single wand. One guy prespraying, crbing, pulling hose, moving and block and tabbing furniture, etc, the wand never stops. There is always an exception to the rule however. Doing a job with upholstery and carpets, it can be better to split that. On a lot of large commercial jobs, it's better to have 2 trucks. Set up at different ends of the building, so you're not in each others way. If you have enough staff, I can see dual wanding being effective.

I couldn't even wand 4 average soiled empty rooms in an hour, let alone set-up, tear down, pre-spraying, and whatever else needs to be done.

I think that's the whole point of the thread. Most cleaners just move the wand too darn fast. At least according to production rates claimed online.

A skilled two person crew Derek.

Lead tech takes HF and lead hose spool to the far point and spools back to the truck. Starts the machine and also carries the wand back to the far point. Starts prespraying.

Support tech brings lead vacuum hose to the 50' mark on the solution hose and enough additional hose, if needed, to connect to the truck. Starts moving certain furniture and prepping as needed. When far point areas are presprayed or treated finishes spooling the vacuum hose to the wand. Avoid spooling vac hose before sprayed.

Lead tech starts cleaning, support tech positions furniture, backs out hoses, white towels any overspray and spotters.

Support tech take wand for a few minutes while lead tech does any paperwork or customer interaction.

Wrap up and repeat.

You miss my point, I prefer to work with a well oiled two man crew as well.

What I'm saying is: I can't move the wand over that much carpet at a speed that is acceptable to me in that amount of time. Ymmv.

Do you run a Bane?

Running moderately, not hurrying, with a 2 x 14" Devastator, and a Prochem 405 (brand new blower), we get excellent results.

Between 800 and 1200 sf/hour usually, but I don't aim for anything other than excellent results.

Maybe you need a younger helper. I started slowing down 10 years ago, now have two great helpers.

Reduces friction
That’s what you guys aren’t comprehending. This job isn’t a regular Cc job. And no, I’m not gonna drag out my 175 or crb.

Friction is needed with all the ground in dry pig crap. That’s why I took off the glide. And it’s not too hard to push when you walk it.

And yes I prevacced it. It was a necessity with all the wood chips and loose crap. This is one of those jobs where the normal Cc rules don’t apply.

Two young guys in excellent shape, Dev 14 wand, high performance machine (brand new Butler high heat, high vac), and no skimping on chemistry.

It literally comes down to how fast you're willing to move the wand over the carpet, and I'm willing to slow down and take the time to do a proper job.

1,200 ft per hour?!

You've done played yourself.

If it works for you, that's great.

Don't go for the extremes, that was a range. The carpet dictates the speed. I doubt we're that far apart in practice.

Can I go for your extreme on the low end, then? 800/ft an hour in occupied residential? No, I can't hit that target either.

No matter your systems, marketing, equipment, physical condition, etc; it comes down to wand moving over carpet, and I'm not willing to rush.

There's no rush, but the wand starts moving within about 5 minutes of arrival and doesn't need to stop until finished. Don't waste time or motion, don't miss anything. Keep moving.

Yeah, I get it, that's what we all shoot for, of course. I can guess that a brand new Butler with fresh tank and live supply and solution reels is at least a bit more efficient than whatever 25+ year old rig that you might be running.

We are talking about wand over carpet. I consider myself a proper tradesman and will only move so fast.

We admit to not Wernerizing, especially in the back where we start. Traffic lanes and door areas primarily.

Adding the CRB has slowed things down at the front end of the job, but usually saves those minutes at the end.
