Hey guys. I know I might be a bit low on my stretching and reseam pricing. I usually charger $90 per power stretch and $75 if I need to cut a threshold seam and then reattach after a stretch. Am I in the ball park?

I hate doing carpet repairs, but unfortunately I’m pretty good at it.

My minimum for stretching is $125 and almost 100/room after that. We moved the furniture inspected tackles, termites and water damage.

it’s amazing what you find that’s the source of carpet failures mostly old or bad installs tho.

same with seams start at 125 yer in Ca I’d figure you would have higher prices

My reasons for hating repairs are weird but non the less, they are my reasons. I hate working on my knees, and I hate having to dig out my power stretcher and tool box from my van. I know, stupid.
Mostly concrete slabs or wood that you’re dealing with Damon?

Dunno how it’s a waste of time. I’d have a 500-800 repair then you schedule the cleaning for right after and my ticket would grow considerably and it was fewer stops in the day.

it’s easy but it’s hard on the body
It's not easy if you're alone and have furniture to move. The time it'd take to make 500-800 stretching and repairing after moving furniture, an owner/op can be more productive with less wear on the body doing other services.

You are right, it is hard on the body.

$150 Minimum first room, $100 for any other areas.

I have billed for only $100 after quoting $150, if the job goes easy and the customer preps well.

Things are a little slow this week but I managed to make quota for the week. As of now I'm 4 days ahead of schedule of meeting my monthly expenses. Hopefully a couple of big jobbers roll in so I can put some aside for more apple stock and the Corvette fund. I picked a good time to lose weight. Not going to Wendy's is saving me money. For lunch today I had three tacos worth a total of 15 weight watchers points.

Ok. raising my price from $90 to $125 for a stretch.
are you talking your vacants, or places full of furnishings.

Two different completely different animals.
Just like in the carpets we clean..

Dealing with peoples' schedules needs is something to figure in the mix.

vacant, usually done while there , usually easy peasy quick.

I refuse to stretch furnished rooms. I don't care how much it puts people out. If they want it stretched by me, it must be cleared of all furniture. I have zero tolerance. I've dealt with customers that say, "oh, well have everything out", then I show up and they only cleared half the room or moved everything to one side. I tell them to reschedule. A majority of my stretching work is vacants for property management. I usually turn down repairs and stretching for non commercial customers. It's just too much of a pain. You gotta dig around in their closet stuffed with years of crap and balled up dog hair just to get a ruminant. Then you tell the customer, "Have a closet totally cleared out so I can pull good carpet from it". I show up and its stuffed with old panties and shoes form the 1980's. Nope, I'm done with that crap. If it ain't vacant, it ain't for me.

Now ask me how I feel about Earth day.

Crab stretcher is really good for both. We add tack strips on all jobs for stretching so it gives you something to really bite.

also carpet spikes the one with two pins is good. Typically dealing with carpets out of warranty anyway

They empty the small stuff and we charge 50-100/room to move furnishings. Heirlooms or priceless gets moved by client

We use sliders and dollies ive moved lots of furniture alone. But yeah it’s hard on the body. With a helper it’s a breeze
