I do it once a month on some elevators. Hwe every quarter. Its commercial carpet so it does a good job on them. Looks better than the HWE but we all know it's not cleaner.

The idea of post padding was lame, but it led me into pre scrubbing back in the days just before rotary extraction. It made a huge difference in commercial cleaning.
Post padding resi pile is lame but funked up olefin GD, it has some benefits...

definite extra soil removal, friction drying of sorts, leaving an encapymer behind to act as an anti wick/protector, until the check clears...

I'm a big fan of post padding, but rarely have time to do it.

I've been toying with the idea of putting down my prespray with my O.P. and scrubbing with a red pad as I apply it on the carpets that need a little extra love.

Use a pile lifter to agitate your pre-spray, then HWE - hot!

I have. (Certified w/light brown veggie brush) and vac port hooked to TM
it's better than any CRB due to heavier wt, but a rotary with VCT pad kick'd it azz for shearing soil
............................................................................................

post bonnet was a red board de jour thing.
I tried telling them the scrub comes BEFORE the rinse.
Butt you know how de jour pack followers are.
They parrot the de jour party line whether they have a clue or not

I s'pose it may have helped the 50%'ers (hacks that don't know they're hacks) with wicking due to crappy wand technique.
But pretty much worthless waste of time otherwise*

*only time we found any value was when the subfloor was so uneven and lumpy good wand slot contact was difficult/impossible to not leave puddles in the dips.
Then we'd post bonnet

On trashed carpets, shower feed your precondition through a Cimex for superior agitation then rinse with a Zipper Spinner.

Hard to equal the results and if a two man crew its actually not any slower.

You will use more precondition but if its trashed it needed it.
I tried that, once at Pegs greasy Spoon, where I have tried EVERY thing at least once.

Zipper still needed trimming and didn't dry as well as my 12"wands

One man is a lot of work but still can be done. It works so much easier with two technicians.

Yes I edged when using a Zipper or Rotary. Yes it is more thoroughly rinsed that using just a wand, it may take a little longer to dry. If needed use airmovers to speed the drying.

More thoroughly rinsed with the zipper spinner sure but the regular zipper I don't think so

I suppose it depends on how slowly you more each tool. I would think the regular would leave it drier than a wand. ???

The Spinner is using more water and hitting all angles so I can see where it leaves it damper. Plus the precondition is applied with a Cimex you're using far more product than just a mist with a hydroforce.

It was a bigger deal in the early days of the olefin era when most of us didn't yet understand yet what it was.

It was an IICRC test question, so we IICRC instructors (past tense in my case) had to cover the method. That probably gave it more credibility that it really deserved.

Cleaning them right the first time was the better answer.

50%'ers
and when olie berbers were trendy, it was 88.975%'ers

simply demonstrated how many "50%'ers" there were/are
...INCLUDING instructors

same for all the "browning" correction juices when jute backed nylon was still common

almost all of it a result of poor technique
