You have spent a lifetime inside the (arguably) most intimate and personal spaces of thousands upon thousands of people fixing problems that the home owner is embarrassed about, ashamed of, or helping them make their home feel safe.

In that time I imagine you have gleaned some insight or wisdom that few ever exposed to.

So, out with it! What is some OG Carpet Cleaner wisdom or insights you have learned over the years?

You need to be friendly but not too friendly. You need to be professional but not too professional. You need to be personable but not too personal. You need to be sympathetic and non-judgemental. You need to get the job done to your customers satisfaction or prequalify them as to the expected results.

Ok heres the reel dirt.

Don't lie, tell the truth, answer what you know.

Be genuine, caring, and interested.

Know when to stop talking about your pet peeve.

Always keep learning and improving your process.

In any situation we're not there to judge, but improve their living situation.

I try to have a sense of humor, that's relatable, not shock factor.

If I want to fire a customer but still like them, I'll bitch a little more complain a little more.

They still tip me and laugh.

I've had to apologize a few times

With one truck?
Yes Sam, ONE TRUCK…

The hours are atrocious, but yes, one truck.

150-650 an hour.

It’s out there, just have to know how to find it.

THIS IS A BUSINESS OF RELATIONSHIPS, DEVELOP THE RIGHT ONES,

AND THE SKY IS THE LIMIT…

I’m on day 18.

It’s the hourly rate that makes all the difference.

I’ve put in 21 hr days, from the time I leave my home, until the time I get back,

No, not every day, but if a guy wants to be successful, no matter the occupation or trade, you got to work like a duck…

Calm and collective on the surface, but the legs are paddling like a dickens under the water…

So A: how old are you?

B: what's your goal for retirement?

I'm looking more like @Jack Zipper Zerkie.

Working until I die, why not?

Activity is gold.

Why not work the system, instead of the system working you?
Well I hope it works out for you.
55 is a good age to call it.

don't acknowledge that they should have called earlier if they are embarrased by condition, pet stains etc.

Just realistically tell them what to expect from your level of experience

Diana and I did that in our 40s. Long term, it will kill you just like anything. If it don’t kill you, you’ll wish you were dead. Work hard, but enjoy life. It truly is short.
