We got new carpet, pad, and vinyl installed Thursday. We have used and referred the same installers for years. The guys were nice, they did a good job, but they left an interior door off and left us a bottle of chew spit. Don’t be them.

My husband was way more Karen about it than I was. I could go on and on about how gross it was that they let them smoke in the work truck and how they stunk coming into my house, but I didn’t say a word.

I'm guessing Scott was less than kind ....understandably so.

I'm curious:

What was more offensive?

The door being forgotten, or the spit bottle being left behind?

Scott didn’t deal with it, I did…understandably so. The spit bottle was more offensive, the door was no big deal.

Yep, will take a pic when the rooms are put together
On of the worst things I did was let property managers know I stretch carpet. Good lord do they need that done a lot. I charge $90 per stretch. I think I need to charge more.

I just hate digging out my tools for repairs and stretching and working on my knees. It sucks because I'm good at it, I just hate doing it. I want to only clean carpets. That's my happy place. It took me years to figure that out. I don't know how guys like Robert Atlas are happy skipping around doing repairs all the time. But he probably looks at me and thinks, "Why does that idiot only like cleaning carpets."

I sold my power stretchers. I still have a complete repair kit but hate repairs. I never advertise it and only do a few for select customers.

We have our flooring license, a lot of times the door needs to be shaved/cut down to be able to put back on.. If thicker material used.. Either way, we'd recap with the customer on completion of the job.. Finding an installer who takes pride in their work is slim pickings, count your blessings on a Power stretcher used..

Did they vacuum? Clean up their mess?

I seriously made this post to remind you all what the little details can look like from a customer’s perspective. It was meant to be helpful to you, and I get called a Karen for it. Remind me again why I spend time with you jerks?

I had a locksmith change a lock on an old condo I used to own. I get home and the keys he dropped off to me work great. Yet, he left a neat pile of saw dust beside the door. It had been swept into a pile. Why wouldn't it cross his mind to have a little vacuum with him to clean up after himself? It's the little things that ruin an otherwise decent job.
