New van or rebuild

Metal in the oil and some engine noise I have been told it needs a new engine around 9k to put new long block in

I own all my equipment haven’t had a payment and it’s nice but I’m thinking about buying a new van

Would you fix it and drop the cash or trade it in and get a payment

I paid around that same price to replace the engine in my 2015 GMC and for the same reason. Happened just out of warranty. I used to get a good ten years out of my Chevy vans before things started breaking. I’d replace them as soon as small things like starters or fuel pumps started breaking. Now a days your lucky to get two or three years out of them before they start needing shop time and it’s not always small things. Heck I’m having to replace the upper and lower ball joints on one van right now and that used to be unheard of. I had to replace a front tie rod last summer and I noticed the inner joint didn’t come with a grease fitting on it. I pitched a fit and my auto parts buddy told me to calm down. The planning to fail is just going to get worse.

I have no debt I like to run things as long as I can but I am at 86k miles on this van and am afraid I’m gonna just keep dumping money into it but at the same time I don’t have too much faith in the new stuff either

The problem is the wrap and install is gonna make everything more expensive to swap

This van has an Everest in it and less than 90k miles

I am thinking maybe a low top transit but not sure if it would be reliable either or just replace with the newer Chevy and pray the new 6.6 gas engine is better

I’m in it forever if my tsla stock keeps going in this direction along with my crypto I will die broke
I plan on cleaning carpet till I can’t but for only people I want to clean for lol

I’m open to any make van but I only have Ford and Chevy in my town. So, I’ll most likely have to buy a Chevy or GMC just because I don’t want warranty work to be an out of town hassle.

Well I think they have a 5-7 year life span before they should be removed

Mine lasted 5 years before the hood started turning colors and cracking. I removed it and now the Chevrolet mange is showing.

To be fair, you had lawnmower engines then PTO's... 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 LS engines are a dime a dozen..

Jasper engines have crate engines.. 1 day to pull and re-install..

The clutch on my Steam Genie fried on a job.. I had to pull the shaft and change the bearings because I didn't know if it was just the clutch and/or bearings.. @Dwain Ray is the real MVP, came in clutch with walking me through the steps to change it.. He even sent me his installation tools to speed up the process.. Rather simple after figuring it out..
