Metal in the oil and some engine noise I have been told it needs a new engine around 9k to put new long block in

I own all my equipment haven’t had a payment and it’s nice but I’m thinking about buying a new van

Would you fix it and drop the cash or trade it in and get a payment

Nothing we say can be a good suggestion. It all depends on your finances. If debt is high in your boat, just put a new engine in it.

I paid around that same price to replace the engine in my 2015 GMC and for the same reason. Happened just out of warranty. I used to get a good ten years out of my Chevy vans before things started breaking. I’d replace them as soon as small things like starters or fuel pumps started breaking. Now a days your lucky to get two or three years out of them before they start needing shop time and it’s not always small things. Heck I’m having to replace the upper and lower ball joints on one van right now and that used to be unheard of. I had to replace a front tie rod last summer and I noticed the inner joint didn’t come with a grease fitting on it. I pitched a fit and my auto parts buddy told me to calm down. The planning to fail is just going to get worse.
Payments suck
Warranties don’t

I have no debt I like to run things as long as I can but I am at 86k miles on this van and am afraid I’m gonna just keep dumping money into it but at the same time I don’t have too much faith in the new stuff either

The problem is the wrap and install is gonna make everything more expensive to swap

Wow that’s crazy

This is how I feel I had direct drives with 150k miles and 5-6k hours and still all original except normal things like spark plugs belts pulleys ect

This van has an Everest in it and less than 90k miles

I am thinking maybe a low top transit but not sure if it would be reliable either or just replace with the newer Chevy and pray the new 6.6 gas engine is better

How many more years do you plan on staying in this business?

I have mine wrapped too. I started to remove the wrap to sell it a couple of years ago but the paint was coming off with it, so I stopped. I’ll have to paint it when I finally remove it,

I’m open to any make van but I only have Ford and Chevy in my town. So, I’ll most likely have to buy a Chevy or GMC just because I don’t want warranty work to be an out of town hassle.

To be fair, you had lawnmower engines then PTO's... 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 LS engines are a dime a dozen..

Jasper engines have crate engines.. 1 day to pull and re-install..

The clutch on my Steam Genie fried on a job.. I had to pull the shaft and change the bearings because I didn't know if it was just the clutch and/or bearings.. @Dwain Ray is the real MVP, came in clutch with walking me through the steps to change it.. He even sent me his installation tools to speed up the process.. Rather simple after figuring it out..

The Chevy dealer pulled my shaft and tore it all to Hell. I had to replace it. After I aligned the clutch with a laser, I went from replacing the belt every month to twice a year. My distributor couldn’t figure that out. 🙄

Twice a year is still way way too much. Frankenstein has 1200hours and 2½ years still running original Serpentine belt , 1500 hours ill remove it use a guage to measure it and decide weather or not to put it back on and run it till shaft bearing need replacing @ 2000-2500 hours. ( i do pop the extra for Gates Fleetrunner green belts)

If you say so, but horsepower transfered is horse power transfered. Im pulling a 47 blower and a hypro pump spinning blower @2850rpm a@ engine rpm 1232 transfering approximately 22-25hp to machine plus engine drive accessories some where between 28-31 horsepower transfered across a 6 rib Serpentine belt. According to engine diagnostic information @ full load 15" on vacuum and 1000psi @1232 engine rpm, engine load is 28% (6L ENGINE) and still gittin years not months outa belts. But youre probably pullin more.

I’m in it forever if my tsla stock keeps going in this direction along with my crypto I will die broke
I plan on cleaning carpet till I can’t but for only people I want to clean for lol
If you have a spare van, go ahead and put a new jasper engine in it.

If This is your only van, go ahead and take a week off and get a new van. Since you have the everest650 in that van, you might want to just get a brand new tm/van setup and sell that everest. The weakness of that model is the Hyundai engine. They should've never used that engine.

My everest has been down for almost a month because I'm waiting on my mechanic to replace the timing belt/water pump next week. It's leaking antifreeze again very badly, and It only has 1700 hrs on the timing belt/water pump since :madder:JONDON :madder: replaced it last time and almost FKD It up by not tightening down the bolts properly. I regret not buying a machine with a Kubota engine.

If you don't have a mechanic that can do that one job on the engine, you might want to dump it, unless you know to do it yourself. That design is terrible since it is very difficult to get to it. They should've turned the engine sideways like my thermalwave vortec so access would be easier
