Today is my 40th Wedding Anniversary to my beautiful bride!! And 35 of those years were in the carpet cleaning business. Mexicans, Italians, Heinz 57's......what a mix!

It's our second Granddaughters birthday today, Lil Ana is 15 going on 23. Her 2nd cousin Dustin, our GreatGrandson will be 11 mo in a few days.

40 years ago I was known as greedy Johnny, driving my own Taxi car (67 Catalina, 4 dr HT, 400 cube with a six pack, working 7-12s on night shift and at least 4 days a week filling in on a half shift when help was needed.. That lasted till I remet my Helen, the 2nd week in Jan went on our 1st date. Our 40 years will be in Feb, No we couldn't wait til Valentines day either..

Wow 40 years, seems like last week..

PS Sioux and I will hit 37 years married next June. As we told the waiter on our 35th anniversary date as he was rhapsodizing over 35 years together: "With the right person it is easy!" And of course you gotta BE the "right person" too! So take a bow!

Congrats on the 40 years!

I just thought about it..I haven't even lived 40 years!! I'm 35 and been married for 8 years (12-20-2003)

40 years is indeed a pretty long time.

Way to go Bob.

What would be the best advice to stay married that long??
other than get married young !gotcha!

You are right, Ron. Marry young! We were 18 and just out of HS...I was home on leave from the Air Force tech training. We had been together since 8th grade. Wasn't cleaning carpet yet, but had full time job at GM right out of HS.

I wouldn't advise kids to marry that young nowadays.

Our kids threw us a party with family and friends. It was a nice evening.

It takes 2 to tango. I've tried the one sided marriage thing.

Good job in finding the right lady for you.

I think the key to a good marriage is realizing that change is going to happen and be ready for it....always.
