It's installed but won't run. The fuel pump won't start. It is good , I checked that first. I discovered the tank float was bad but it was stuck closed so it didn't matter. This machine won't even turn over without the float attached. Full week and no machine. I always hate changing machines you never know what will happen. Something is preventing the fuel pump from supplying fuel. Currently I'm stumped. It has two cables to hook up and that's it. Thinking about forcing the pump to run just to get the system primed.

Halwin switch is bad. I cant see any other problem. You cant just unplug it. The machine won't turn over. It connects a circuit. I installed a good one. I did unstick the little reed but it didn't last.

Check the micro switch in the harwill float assembly, might not be opening. Does the fuel pump turn on when you key the unit?

This may not be what you want to hear after spending upwards of 30000 on a machine but they all break down whether a 330, an 870 an entry level EZ TM or an ultra reliable Pro 1200 or Butler. You must have a backup plan. I used to have a second direct drive unit van and did so for many years but it was just not used but once every year or two. Now I have a complete backup system for the cost of insurance and a repair or two on the second truckmount.

I don't do back up plans and I'll never use a portable. People can be rescheduled. Ill put my old one back in first
It is the float switch. That's the company that made it. Might be misspelled. Yes the micro switch is the problem but I have more important things to do right now. It was quicker just to pop in a new one. Already had it.

when you get in a new car and turn the key they start. I don't expect anything less. The manual has a short list for what causes it. Oil pressure, high temp switch ,tank float or defective fuel pump. They all work.

So Gene, if I understand correctly it will crank (turn over) but won't start, and you've replaced a bad float switch but it didn't help. Correct?

Suggest you do not do that.

On the Ford industrial motor, the fuel pump is not just on-off via a fuel pump relay like we're used to. Instead it is controlled by the ECM and the voltage is varied to maintain correct fuel pressure. It normally does not have a full 12V on it. Like you said, best to have your dealer look at this one.

The voltage going to it is 9.4. I primed it but not to the engine. I pulled off the line and ran it back to the tank. I wanted to prime the filter and pump. No harm in that.

Slide-ins are by their very nature no where near as reliable as a direct drive. When you get in a new van it starts, so your direct drive machine will start. Not so with a new van and a slide in. Cars have 125 years of engineering behind them, tens of thousands of engineers made sure your car starts. Slide-ins have a couple of decades and a small handful of engineers spread out over dozens of disparate machines. You need a backup.

The first thing he had me do was Hot-wire the fuel pump. Starts but won't run. Hot-wired the float and disconnected all the shutoffs. Nothing helped so far. I pulled the codes. 17. 118. 113. 91. In that order. 17 isn't in the book and shouldn't be but I double checked it. Some of the codes are from starting without sensors. All may be because of that. I don't know how to clear it , yet. Disconnecting the battery didn't help.
