Anybody willing to share some ad copy for adwords that works? I'm running a couple small campaigns for rug and Tile Cleaning bit with the top spot almost $10 a click in wondering if I shouldn't focus efforts elsewhere this year. I really don't wanna dump more than 2-300 bucks a month on it unless it's consistently working. Pm me if necessary, thanks!

I shut mine down at the moment. Almost $10 per click here too.

I have had some luck with some crafty keywords. One of my surprise performers was the name of a franchise who boasts that they leave behind no residue.

A company name or special process might be cheaper than "carpet cleaner"

I really have to take a look at ours too. This is the time of year to get it dialed in.

Line one: Town name carpet cleaning - website

Line two: Local & Trustworthy carpet cleaner. We can HELP you... Call Today.

Set your monthly budget and you won't go over. I try not to think about the money or I'll lower it. And yes, it is somewhat hard to track, with out different numbers.

So far Feb. has picked up quite a bit, if I can get through this cold as fudge week.... Next week 40's!

Simple, I like it. Getting cold here this week too. The faucet that was running all winter has definitely froze up this week

Yea, they only give you so much space to work with. Now they(google) also make you website domain part of the first line, so even less. Do whatever you need, just have something different.

For the last couple years I've only run ads in my town and I make sure I'm on top.

I've done it for a few years too, just wondering how others are getting at it

I'm just getting into this type of seo education.

Do you think it makes a difference if it's "town name" carpet cleaning OR carpet cleaning "town name"?

Depends on how you have your landing page set up. Keep in mind that the more relevant your ad is to your landing page, the more likely you're going to have a better ad quality score. The higher your ad quality score the cheaper the CPC is. For lower ad scores you have to pay more to beat out your competition. For people who are trying to target multiple cities with their ads, I recommend you set up different landing pages for each city and service.

For example - for @Chris A , you have city pages set up already so create individual ads for each city and direct those ads to those cities.

Barry, I pretty much do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. If they have carpet cleaning first, then I want town name first. Be different, stand out as much as you can.

Who "scores" the quality of your ad? Is that part of the Google Adword setup?

Do any of you guys know what percentage of clicks you convert to jobs? At $10 per click (that's for each click to your website, correct?) if you converted at least half to a third, that might be worth it. Is it normally much lower than that?

It's hard to say exactly how many convert to jobs because we pay for Google to drive them to our site, that's it. I wouldn't spend much $ on Adwords until I was happy with my website. Otherwise, you will spend a small fortune to get people to your site and have them not call. This is the worst case. It's worse than not doing Adwords at all IMO.

The next important thing to do is ANSWER THE PHONE. Those are expensive leads. They need to be converted into a booked job. Otherwise we are dumping $10 bills down the toilet.

Totally agree and that is absolutely my reasoning as to why I have NOT started Adwords yet as after paying 3 different web "experts" to re-do my website time and again to just be disappointed in the looks of the thing - I finally learned and did it myself. I'm just finishing it up and making it like I want. When I'm done my plan was to ask everyone from here to look at it and see what they think. Then when I'm fully satisfied start the Adwords campaign.

Do you trust Google (I guess you almost have to) to keep track of the clicks and bill you correctly? I know with Yelp my feeling is they over-exaggerate the number of clicks to your website that they say they give you.

Barry, Google has been great to deal with. It's even a real, English speaking tech whenever I have had to call. The entire system is meant to be easy enough for you to use. If you've already built your website and everything you will be fine.

Tons of data is kept and shared with you by Google. You will learn to read it and evaluate things along the way.

Yea, you kinda have to trust them, to a point.

Try searching "google adwords" on youtube. Boat load of info to be found.

The video below explains how you pay, what you pay(the auction).

It's important to understand it's like a real time auction that happens constantly, all day long. You can tweak times of day, etc also. I know Jerry understands this, just for general info.

Jerry, are you going to any of the MF's this year??!!

Too funny, I've been wanting to ask you the same thing...

Nashville is about ten or so hours from us, that's about my limit of driving before I go nuts. And IF I get ballsy and bring the wife and kids(2&4), omg(ten hours in a car)!

Yea, solo trip sounds good...

We might try to get grandma to come stay with the boys. That way Mel and I can get loose!

If the boys come, they will be 15 and 6 by then.

It's a NUTS time of year for us. That last week in July, we are cleaning mostly college move outs. Wand only, I try to clean about 15 apartments in a day. I'll probably take a day or two off. I wish I could take more!

The most important thing with Ad Word copy ( or even most biz copy) is to list the one thing that makes your biz different. (Not stupid stuff saying you are the best). Its important to differentiate your business to seperate your biz from all the rest. They your biz becomes a destination instead of just an other biz called down the list. Build your USP and market the hell out of it. Example- No residue makes you think of only one company. That is how a suscessfull USP works.
