After extracting as much as possible with the WC, do you guys always wand over the area to catch the water at the tips of the fibers?? I'm not sure if that is standard practice, but I do it.....after about every 100-200 sf or so. Seems some water lays atop the fibers, and wanding (with a glide) seems to finish it off.

I ain't got one of those fancy-ass riding extractors.....

Yes Robert after physically compressing the pad some water will wick back to the top afterwards. A light wand extraction helps to get that last bit of easy water before you setup your drying.

If I waterclaw anywhere in a room, then they have to buy the same room of carpet cleaning.

You more or less have to do anyway, so I make sure I charge for it.

I do, but I apply a lioght application of detergent and flush it with an acid rinse.

Counter productive? Possibly, but I charge for it too, and I feel overall it gives me a superior job.

If it's a partially affected room, then the whole room gets the cleaning so as not to end up with mis matched appearances once dry.
