and who in the hell thought putting a baptism pool heater in a van would be a good idea?

the garbage tin-ee construction, no safety features it's insane that the cleaning industry ever embraced these things.

Something that was designed to be used once a week in a church being used all day in a moving vehicle. GFL.

I hated mine with a passion.

Who was the first hillybilly broke dick garage builder to come up with this bs?

Judson?

Yet, they have been used safely for many years.

seems to have worked out well.............and it wasn't designed to be a baptismal pool heater (or a carpet cleaning heater) afaik.....that was just a niche they entered and expanded into....it is designed to heat water.......something both need to do

I remember first day at Alliance...
I asked what are those tanks under the trucks...
Thought it was as dumb then as it is now...

I do hate propane though

my first TM was propane (heater and motor)

clean burning engine, abundance of fast heat and reliable (when not windy)
but propane fueling was a PITA to me .
and I even had a commercial "self serve" account with key to the cage and a code that allowed me to fill any time night or day

it stilL sucked

That's the problem with propane today. Many jurisdictions don't approve of the installation in a van and it's a pain using dual fuels. Mind you, you can always convert your van to propane and have the heater hooked up to the vans tank. Used one like that back in the 80's. Nice and hot.

I’m not saying propane is still practical, but people who run propane heated rigs aren’t refarted like Mikey says. They’re just broke dicks who can’t afford a heat exchange unit.

I adjust my big Juan to the side before I light my Little Giant every job.

Hell of a lot less trouble than some of those rich fookers heat exchange POS solenoid this and solenoid that.

Juan one day I will get heat exchange but my TM keeps on kicking Arse for me everyday.
