Are you looking for clues on how to make (good) impressions on your customers? (no Nate, not physically)

When you're getting into the very fancy high end community... and you see the names on the doors: Friedman, Hartman, Roseman, Feinstein, Woodman, Silverman, Loadman, Boardman, Chapman, Weiner, Bloomberg, Bergman, that's just one floor in one building.

You stereotyping yet?

If yes, then you are looking for clues.

You better be able to tell them "Mr Feinstein, your mezuzah is upside down"

And be able to explain why you say that.  (it's a Shin not an M)
(Ofer will correct me if I'm wrong.. and tell us what Shin stands for in El Shaddai)

Let me tell you, the guys wearing jeans cut off shorts and tank tops and speaking cholo English couldn't stand a chance in the neighborhood... So please go ahead look for clues and start stereotyping for your own sake.

The main thing is to recognize clues then keep it to yourself. A lot of people don't like discussing their cultural or religious values. Often in an attempt to identify with them, you may inadvertently put them off. Great to learn about other cultures and religions but sometimes, people are just people.

I think what impresses this demographic is how you act in their home and treat them....not trying to bond with them over their culture...unless of course you share that culture.

Show up on time, be well groomed and dressed, be respectful of their property (use corner guards, drop cloths, booties, seal a door). Show you are a professional with knowledge about what you are there to do....comment on the type of area rugs they have, type of furniture style or the designer (that you can identify them on sight).

I think it would offend someone to tell them that something is upside down.....never point out something wrong...then they feel stupid or offended and you never want to put a customer in that position....even if you can explain why you said it.

Homeowner today told Genny I made a great. Impression on the estimate. Said I was very honest and represented myself very well.

When I'm on I got it!

At the scene of the crime... My first thought at the title.

It should be obvious but I see the tank tops earrings and tattoos too.

I'm not going to fit into anyone else's culture even if I wanted to. I lived in Japan and use to speak fluent Japanese, but 6'2" blue eyes... I'm not Japanese... even if on the phone they thought I was.
Be respectful and polite...listen to them...smile and do your job.
All good relationships are built on trust and mutual respect.

You have some good and some bad points.... show up etc - good.

Talking about their valuable stuff - bad. Unless they bring it up.

Helping out with their symbol being upside down can earn you huge amounts of respect and good word around the neighborhood. Ask me how I know...

The point of my initial post was missed by some of you...

Looking for clues doesn't mean to barge in there blazing and telling them "yo' jew bastarrr, donn even know your thingamagicky is downside up?"
No no no...

The point is to be having carefully directed conversations with them that can lead you to the point.

And this is with anybody and any culture or ethnicity.

I try not to talk to much but listen carefully what they are saying. I don't look at pictures or furnishings or how clean or dirty everything else is well cept for dog crap where my hoses go. I don't want to be their friend neither. Friends want discounts lol.

As Johnny Carson used to say , " I didn't know that!"

I've come to recognize the common traits of those LIBERAL BASTARDS.
Like ballet, follow movie stars, play classical music, culturally snobbish and are DEMOCRATS.
But the middle class liberals have me perplexed. Stupid reasoning for politics here. : )

My clues this week was my customer loves dogs. No, I mean LO--------------VES DOGS! Like, she cremated 5 of them and put them on display of her sunroom window. I really felt bad for her only and last dog that was still alive. It was very fat.

Anyway, I started bringing up how sweet and cute her "puppy" was, and was playing with the dog at the end of the job. Oh yeah...she loved me

AND NO MEG, I DIDN'T WEAR MY DAMN BOOTIES!
