Also didn't appreciate getting a cease and desist advertising letter from them because I was using a Butler in addition to owning a Bane Maxi Mount, Megamount and dry cleaning unit.

Banes chemist states that most of their formulations are for Luke warm water.

The PCA5 'cooked' and was useless

They added chemical lines to boost slipping sales


Too bad they didn't add a truckmount to their arsenal... they'd be a force

I ran my bane hotter than this WM gets. At least the first 70 gallons.

But it would rain inside the van from all the steam.

Before I switched from Bane, I ran a propane heater with it

Had to change the solution lines and wands cause none of Banes stock stuff can handle 200 degrees

If I wanded reeeeeeeal slow it would be pretty dry but I didn't go that slow normally. Took to long and too much water. Needed good electric too. Lotsa old homes around here still not updated from the 40s and 50s.

I switched valves over long before I stopped using the bane tools. Still using the stair tool though.

And yes I need a new heat exchanger but still getting 180 to 210 at the machine with one exchanger.

Piled bonnets on the cap and ran the electric heater all night. Nobody believes me but when the gauge worked it would read 220. Steam would be whistling out of the cap. Hoses and connectors would be to hot to touch unlike. The WM. But I had some days with. The WM that it got super hot. Before the exchanger started leaking.

Back in the early 90s they were selling Paramount 120 gallon tank systems and loading them in Chevy G20 vans

They were overweight as soon as you added water to the fresh tank

Came with Load C tires which flexed instantly and the front end tires would scallop at 20k miles

Went through 2 seats of rear axle bearings before 80 K miles


2 years later they started installing in 3000 series

Yep I added a set of coils in the back.it still sat low. Had to park downhill to get a good drain.

Couldn't use a filter bag or you'd have Barely Any Noticeable Extraction

A 2 inch dump valve would have clogged in the first month of use

Pa Pa Bane had a great idea but the unit lacked vacuum& heat. He should have talked to Tim Allen on tool time and Tim would have boosted the whole unit to be like todays units. jz.

I have had a look and for a dude like me their gear seems a good fit. Portable, positive displacement blower serviced, electric powered.

What are you using for carpet cleaning now?

I ran them for the first 12 years of my business and then bought 2 Butlers to replace them

They are FAR from portable, heavy as heck

If you do decide to buy one, absolutely buy used

They are way overpriced brand new and would be cheap to fix if required


Just trying to give personal experience so you can make an informed decision

I should say I live over in Australia. So the van is more applicable to somebody bit closer. Second hand units sound interesting.

I have a hybrid setup built around a Nautilus MX3-500H portable. I have a KleenRite Inline Airflow vacboost so I can lift up a bit of vac drop over a longer hose. I can't have a TM. Just out of the question. Best I can hope for is a hybrid which I have essentially built myself with off the shelf machines and a little bit of modification.

I totally get this thing is SFA to you guys with engine driven machines and you are all really proud.

GRRRR.


But I don't hold those cards and I wonder if this hybrid is better than my hybrid? Or more if the vacuum system being positive displacement rather than fan based is better than my porty? Which is the heart of my Hybrid?

Don't let the fact that Bane uses a PD blower influence you, it's a 33 blower and it is severely under driven due to the limits of a standard 110 outlet ( less than half its capability)

The water pump delivers around 150 PSI MAX pressure

You will extremely disappointed with its performance


Don't buy one without trying one first, you have more power now

However with 220 volts in Australia could you put twice the powered electric motor on the Bane? And run it at twice the speed? I cannot imagine there would be a tank issue. Two 220 volt circuits should be able to make a Truely powerful ETM from a Bane Base.
