ever run a rotary before??
If not, start in an open area.
if after 10 seconds it's not easy to you, you're doing it wrong....find the balance point
I rented one from a local tool shop a few times to try it out before I committed to buying one. I gotta say it makes a world of difference when you scrub a carpet with a heavy machine like a 175. I love the way it BLASTS through the crud.
The first time I used one was with a new red pad. I almost dislocated both wrists as it twisted me like like a around like a pretzel. I must have looked like a moron for the first 15 minutes so I'm glad no one was watching. Those motors have a lot of torque and should be respected.
My first goal was to keep it in the same place while running, but I found that really hard until I optimized the handle height to where I could brace it against waist. I find them really hard to control if the handle isn't perfect. Once the handle felt comfortable it was all about balancing like you mentioned. As far as moving it while its running the first thing that comes to mind is the 95 pound girl being pulled all over by the 200 pound Mastiff. Again, I must have looked like a real jackass, but after face-planting into a couple of walls, you realize all it takes is SLIGHT pressure on the handles to steer it it gets a lot easier. As Tony Robbins says, "Repetition is the mother of all skill". Practice practice practice.
I used the brush last night on CGD and I found it a lot easier to control than a pad, but at times I wished I had the bite of a pad. It still worked well though.
I'm curious about different scrub patterns.
I notice it seems to bite best when moved forward/up due to the rotation, when applying a little downward pressure on the right side of the handle, but that does not seem too efficient.
Does everyone prefer the "right to left, left to right, drop down overlap"?
