Other than feeling the face yarns or agitating the yarns with water looking for foam, what is
your method of determining carpet cleaning solution residue?

Using soft water or distilled water and trying to stir up some foam is the filed test. If you want to get serious, you can clip a few tufts and send them to PTL (Professional Testing Labs in Dalton, GA) for a residue test.

On one warranty job we had extra tiles took one that was affected, cut some fibers put in a zip lock bag with water shake and we had tons of foam.
