Can I put a glide on this wand?

I'm new to the forum. My wife and I just launched a carpet and upholstery cleaning business this past month. We love the work, the tools of the trade, the prospects, and this community seems pretty awesome. I've just been lurking here for a while learning as much as I can. Anyways I'm Bryce, it's great to be here

I have this PMF wand I'm wondering if I can get a glide for it. I'm not sure what model it is, can't see any marks aside from PMF on the valve. 3 jets and 12 inches wide. What do you guys think? I keep hearing about Green Glides something or other, are they like the world's most excellent glide or something?

I don't know who thought it would be good to put three Jets across the 12-in head, you're probably going to get a lot of overspray...

I realize you're fresh in the biz and I'm sure money is tight
but here's a thought you should consider.

by the looks of the supply line, looks to me that wand is only good for a low pressure portable.
Rather than spend $200 on a glide for it, spend $500* and buy a new wand from Mike that comes with a glide.

His wand will be infinitely better as well as being capable of hi-pressure portables and/or TM's when you upgrade down the road from now


*I'm "guessing" he can fit you in a new wand for about that much?

Howdy Dolly LLama and Mikey. Dolly, I bought it as a backup for my Hydramaster Evolution wand since it was fairly inexpensive on Marketplace. That's a good point it has a low pressure hose on it. It sort of looks like a makeshift thing that was done afterwards by the previous owner. It has 1/4" 8002 jets on it, are those more high pressure oriented? Good call about not investing in a glide for it if it's a totally inappropriate setup.

Mikey, I was thinking about getting some of the Wander's 1/8" v jets for it, do you think trying a narrower angled jet like a 65 on the outer jets might help dial it? Also if I use the same intersection the jets are on I think I'd have to use a fitting to adapt the 1/4" to 1/8" for the Wander jets and it would bring them a little closer to the floor. PMF tools are a joke. I strongly suggest getting that very affordable westpak530 from mike. I've used several of the pmf and westpak wands and there is such a noticeable difference when you're on a tight budget and can't afford the Cadillac swivel wands or even the overpriced sapphire wands. Don't spend any more time messing with that outdated anchor.

I got an inappropriate low pressure wand setup and it's generally a pos. That's humbling Yea it makes sense for around $500 to do it right with the Westpak 530. Seems like a great deal considering how effective it is. I'll grab one of those at the Fest. Thanks guys!

Thanks jeffexe. It works well and the only good one I have. I'm going to buy one of Mike's at the Fest but even then it's good to have two so I'll pass for now. I don't have anything else I've used to compare it to but sounds like a good wand if you're offering to buy it from me.

The narrower/shorter wings on the left and right side allow too much water vapor to escape while I am wanding and it generates much more humidity in the home. And the extra inch of width on the vacuum shoe itself causes even more vacuum loss for me, and greater humidity and dry times.

Might be a good wand for a TM, but definitely not as good of a wand as Mike's Westpac 530 for my portable setup no doubt. Especially if customer experience regarding ambient humidity and dry times are a high priority. With a more powerful vacuum system in a TM it would be totally different.

Think of it this way, if you were to fill up the head on the evolution with water it would probably take 32 oz..

Fill up the head on a sapphire scientific or a Chosen and it probably takes 8 oz...

That makes sense. The Chosen is an especially brilliant design for smaller TMs and portables. I'm sure it's great on all setups too though.

Not in the house

think about it

to add, any porty that can't run 50ft* doesn't belong on a pro's truck

Back when Bane Clene was a factor in the cleaning equipment marketplace, that was one of their major selling points as to why a truck mount was superior to a portable.

The Evolution wand was manufactured for their portable units. I have never seen a problem with humidity or dry times when I use it with my portable unit. But, since you have the 530 and you like it, You are golden anyway.

The evo does work, I'm not arguing that. Portables innately have weak vacuum and less recovery. The Westpac 530 simply increases one's vacuum and recovery with a 12" opening, far less volume within the shoe, and larger wings on the sides. While they both work well enough, I'm convinced side to side with all other things being equal, the Westpac 530 will recover more moisture. And it fits (therefore cleans) in far more places than the evo without sacrificing ergonomics in residential environments. Evo is slightly less work, 530 is slightly better results, at least on a portable...

I'm obsessed with results, maybe to a fault. Anything that tilts the scales in my favor, especially as an inexperienced, unestablished, and hungry newcomer, is worth it's weight in silver to me.

Simply stated. I have the origional US Products version that was designed to reach the wall, Not the pitiful excuse that Hydramaster is outsourcing. It looked like He has the same version when I looked at his pic. I have been fighting with them for years to change the design back. It is completely stupid. That is why I tried your Chosen Wand/

I keep both, the Chosen Wand and the Original Evolution Wand on my truck. They are both strong performers and do a fantastic job cleaning. They each have their place. Makes it a good combination.
