I tried a yellow DC14 version today on a stair case and now way jose...

The whole way it is balanced and the set back of the wheels makes it pretty much impossible. Do you Dysonphiles use the upholstery tool or what?

yes...just push a button and the wand comes free from the vacuum and I can go up 14 stairs with the base still sitting at the bottom.......once the vacuum is set up right the bar stops turning....the purple design is the best set up...

Release the end cap at the top of the handle.

Release the entire wand, handle and hose away from the vacuum, still leaving the hose attached at the base.

Extend the hose and wand and attach the seperate floor tool.

Power up and away you go.

A picture say's a thousand words, thank christ. shiteatinggrin

With the floor tool above, you can use it either on the extension pole wand, or disconnect the pole and connect the floor tool straight to the hose.

The floor tool above is bigger than the upholstery tool.

It picks up more and is quicker than using the small upholstery tool.

But, I guess, if you are "on time" you could use the upholstery tool to drag the time out. shiteatinggrin

If the wand fits, use it.

I use the purple DC17 on steps. Grap it with both hands and start at the top. I also wand most stairways but I do go back and detail(dry vac) with a vacuum tool on hooked up to the TM.

Or buy a decent stair tool and do it all in one shot. If you need to vacuum stairs prior to cleaning I still use my stair tool. You're not gonna get better suction from any vacuum.

Dry vacuuming without a beater bar/brushroll is just nonsense.

Okay, with crappy ones, I'll use this tool...........

IMGP0742.jpg

Depending on the severity I can agitate the carpet similar to a pile lifter.

IMGP0744.jpg

Using the short handle, I go up the stairs agitating the treads.

(Note: The photo only illustrates the positions the handles can be used in. I have only ever used the back, or bottom hole.)

On the top, I change to the long handle and do the risers on the way down.

Then I can use the floor tool as above, or I can use my upholstery tool with agitation.

Following this, I can then pre-spray the carpet and extract using my..........................

OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T HAVE A PHOTO OF MY STAIR TOOL.

Phew !! flogged wun from Hydramaster. shiteatinggrin
