When I first started in the steam cleaning business in 1970 I used this type. It's stiff, if that is what you want to set the pile. Hard to push though.

Like Loren my dad had one on his truck in the 70's.

We use them on oriental rugs and they work really well on those that a brush might leave a streak.

Easy push /pull

There is one of these on every Stanley Steemer truck. They are used to sweep animal fur off the carpet.
