I had my biggest march ever. I have took notice that alot more people are not price shopping me anywhere near as much and are actualy scheduling on the first price I tell them which I have raised by around 5- 10%. I have also noticed that people are getting more areas cleaned and more often than not the whole place rather than a living room and hall or just a couple of rooms. I may still be on the upswing of my growing business but I am really pumped and feeling positive about the near future. Heck I have 2 grand worth of work for me and the chimpster scheduled for next week and the phone keeps ringing. Are things going abnormally well for any of you guys or gals also?

Now call from a blocked number and saw you have a vacant house that needs to be done asap.

I hate being a week out, as do my clients.

I'd think being out 2 weeks is a sign you need to grow..

I've lost tons of business by being 6-10 days out.

a carpet cleaner I know here said he picked up 11 moveouts this weekend, before that had been really slow

How slow?
He also is a photographer and takes pics of girls doing escort work. He said you can really tell when the economy is slow when the escorts are complaining

In a bad economy the importance of maintance increases.

Cleaning is up. Carpet sales are down.

Auto mechanics are up. Car sales are down.

I remember it happened during Jimmy Carter too.

I just mentioned Carter because I started cleaning carpets right after his reign.

The economy was on the rocks.

But, I still made sales on almost every job by emphasizing the importance of proper maintenance to hold on to what you already own.

People hold on to things longer during a recession.

This makes maintenance even more important during these hard times.

It's just a fact. The average car is now over 10 years old for instance.

As far as being a racist. Whatever that is about.

Many of my relative are black and one is Latino.

I love them all.

A little insight:

(They are all very left and I'm very right.

Most work for the government or are getting government money for not working, many in unions. My brother is head of the county Democratic party and one relative is a paid community organiser for SEIU. My mom ran for the legislature as a Democrat and during family functions many family members are on laptop computers finding oposition research (dirt) on Rebublicans. While the rest are showing the christmas cards they got from Obama.)

They are VERY passinate about politics and so am I (Just not theirs)

Back to race:
I don't rate people on race. I could care less about skin color.

I think people rate themselves by their merit, goodwill (or lack there of) and character.

One of My techs in the 80's in The S.F. Valley would say "I'm not racist, I hate everyone."

Equal opportunity Hater!

Sorry, Dave....didn't mean to label you a racist. We all have some degree of racism in our hearts. We just have different "points of view". I also have Hispanic blood in my family....my wife is 1/2 Mexican, 1/2 Italian.

Since I worked in a Union all my working life, I will support the party that supports my, and most all working Americans interests. That doesn't seem to be the case of Republicans.

But, we can both clean carpets without prejudice!! Money is always green!!

Please don't put words in my statement. I find most of the Republicans abhorent, and non-sympathetic to the average working Joe and small businessman.....including you and me. They have an adgenda as do the Dems. If you are in the income class that the Repubs support, then you would naturally support them.

Now....back to what we do best....clean and make money!!

Rw, I like how you roll. I live in central missouri and sometimes feel like Im in the twilight zone with all these super right wingers. I am originaly from a stinkpot town called council bluffs Ia that gets all its money from casinos and being a leach community upon the greater omaha metro. I absolutley love watching these right wingers b*tch and moan after we had to put up with 8 years of a train wreck called bush. But anyway your right I think we should stick to cleaning, and let the political figures on both sides of the isle keep dividing us

March was good here. I am getting calls from businesses wanting to get their carpets cleaned. Booked 2 offices today. Maybe things are loosening up.

1st quarter 2012

On Location Cleaning 23.1% over 2011
Rug Care Services 13.1% over 2011

It is the slowest quarter of the year and we had a mild winter but expecting the year will continue to be up on a month to month basis.

These threads are so enlightening for me

perhaps Bernanke can gain some insight into the overall economy based on a couple guys earning an extra 5 grand per month over the previous year

Our economy will never recover... our debt and deficit spending will make sure of that

I'm just waiting for the next perceived Stock Market apocalypse to jump back in and then allow my cash reserves in CDs to offset hyper inflation from higher interest rates
