Cultured marble restoration

Can cultured marble be polished and restored? I've heard it can but am very weary about it. I just saw a video of a guy saying it has a gel coat finish from the factory, and its important to not go through it? I dont know. Potential customer sent me these photos.

you sand thru with sandpaper, than I use white and grey 3M pads , than polish with a car detailers cutting compound polish...PIA but can be done

Thats pretty cool! Im scared to learn on a customers top. I have some in a guest bathroom, once it turns to garbage, I will lrobably revisit this post and then try.
