What truckmount do you currently own and if you had to buy a new unit today what would it be?

and why

If anyone else wants to play, go for it...

Currently porty-only, with LG heater. I am slowly accumulating stuff to build my own design TM. Remember I do this only part-time (currently very part-time due to day job). I am a solo operator, no need for dual-wand, and I like to be able to move the machine into any vehicle I want, so pto/cds is not for me. If I bought a machine new, it would probably be a Sapphire 570. That decision is heavily influenced by their great participation and support here, and also by Jim Martin's comments and experiences - and of course the 570's specifications seem perfect for me.

I prefer a liquid-cooled engine, believe the pros outweigh the cons. I am not a super high-heat guy, just want stable solution temp, 190-ish is perfect for me. I like the small footprint.

I agree, they are built for the long haul and seen to be more dependable. You can do plenty with that kind of heat as long as you're not cleaning greasy pits.

I still like heat, more than I can ever use, so I never have to feel like if I just had a little more heat this job would be going faster/better.

The LP heaters we use have NEVER been turned up all the way, even cleaning filthy carpet with dual wands at a total of #14 flow.

The same goes for the reliable APO that we have. I haven't had to stop cleaning on any job to dump a recovery tank in over 10 years. Good thing I don't need a smoke break.

This is all from a daily driver truckmount that is 30 years old.

It's going to be interesting hearing from all you turds why I made the wrong choice.
I always like to be early, so I'll get the ball rolling.

Because you're an idiot that NEVER listens to me. :winky:

Congrats on whatever you got! In reality I can't see how you could lose from any of those you were considering.
There now say something nice at my funeral.

My new one is scheduled to be here sometime Friday.

It's going to be interesting hearing from all you turds why I made the wrong choice.

There is a quote about marriage that goes something like this:

"Marry....or don't get married...either way, you will repent your decision"

Buying a new and unfamiliar truck mount is much like that. Whichever you bought, I hope you find only minor reasons to repent that decision, and that it gives you and your son years of reliable service.

ya know several hundred people attended my fathers funeral. I'm gonna have to start being nicer to people or I'm only going to get around 10 or so.

Ok truth maybe 7-8.

When we lost our son, there was so many people there I couldn't count them. I remember turning around in the car and looking at the funeral procession behind us when we got to the top of the hill on main street and cars were all the way from behind us to the downtown areas and still coming around the turn. Our boy was only 3 years old, so it wasn't his friends who were driving those cars.

It was my wife's friends ...

Thanks. That was over 20 years ago. Time heals. I didn't post that for sympathy. Just to make a point.

I hope my one friend doesn't die before I do, so somebody will be at my funeral.

You have always been very private about your personal losses, both your father most recently, and your son. Your friends here care about how that affects you, but also respect your privacy.

I'm one of them.

I'm thinking that transportation to Alabama sometime in the 2050's should be fairly fast and comfortable. Hold out that long for your funeral and I will too.

Fair enough?

No it doesn't!

I made myself cry the other day just thinking about things my dad would say to us. We were just swamped with water and I was loading and fueling trucks making a list of all the shit I wanted corrected. When he wasn't happy with the way things were he would say "what are you guys going to do when I'm gone?" Dude time doesn't heal it, its just hides it thinly beneath the sin.

I know you didn't. I didn't intend it that way.

I think you made an excellent choice. You won't hear me knock it cause we now have one thing in common....and it will probably be the only thing we will ever have in common.

Nicely said Richard. When I lost someone close once, I told an older and wiser friend that I was "ok".

He said "You aren't ok, and you won't get over this. But you will get used to it"

I didn't like hearing that at the time, but it helped, and its helped since.

Back to the topic, before I get too emotional here:

We'll all look forward to your views on your new machine Marty.

Fair enough, but by the time you guys notice I'm gone, it'll be too late.

Unless Bruder sends congratulatory emails to all the vendors here.

Lets quit talking about it.

When the day comes that the mother ship arrives for me I will miss you people and this place.

You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. I have enjoyed my stay but I have other planets yet to explore.

The body's a temple, that's what we're told
I've treated this one like an old honky-tonk
Greasy cheeseburgers and cheap cigarettes
One day they'll get me if they ain't got me yet
