Richard, for practical purposes, why would one not disinfect on a regular basis? The very dust we pull out is human skin, microbes and any diseases they may be culturing.

Derek most people don't think about how easy it is to splash contaminants onto you, your face, eyes until after you do so.

In this case bio-contaminants. Better safe than sorry!

I think they say too much builds "Super bugs". They become immunity to the solutions we use to kill them.

Thats why many are so against hand sanitizer on a regular basis. Soap and water is still a good solution for most instances.

With all do respect, my gf and her mom are a nut job when it comes to hand sanitizers for everything...

I personally don't use hand sanitizers and can't stand some of the smells... A time and place for use buy not every damn 5 mins... Soap and water... I don't think dog shit is miraculously gone with just hand sanitizers...

Sorry for the rant...

Be aware that quats and most disinfectants are inactived by even modest levels of organic contamination. Clean first. Then disinfect.

I usually treat prior and post clean up.

I have pour molecular modifier throufh my hose since I was warned about bleach eating holes in stainless. But ive only done it a couple times when it was real stanky and Genny was driving.

Basically, the presence of soils, especially if from an organic source - blood and other body fluids for example, will cause the disinfectant not to work as well. The more contamination, the less the disinfectants work.

Most disinfectants are tested on very clean surfaces. Some that want to get a specific rating or endorsement are tested in the presence of 5% dried blood. Most disinfectants, especially quats commonly used in our industry, could not pass that test. They would not work if 5% of the surface they are disinfecting is covered with blood or other contamination.

So, one needs to clean the surface they want to sanitize or disinfect first. Then the application of the disinfectant is the second step.

That is the whole premise of sewage cleanup. Reduce the bio-load, remove porus materials, wash down hard surfaces and then apply a biocide. Allow it to sit 15 minutes for effacy and rinse.
