So doing some maintenance on my Apex today and found my water pump belts needed to be replaced..:eekk:

Anyway while I was taking them off I noticed that the pulley can slide right of the shaft..

It doesn't seem right to me?? Is it just a worn key way? I would think there should be something more that holds it on?

Thanks for any help...

I don't know that pump but if the end is threaded it should have a washer and bolt to hold it there.

I have a hypro pump that the clutch got fried.... I replaced it with one from Grainger and the set screw kept coming loose... I would have to re-tighten it every so many hours...I also tried locktite and it didn't help... I just bought a new General pump and got a pulley and sheave/bushing for it... The pulley is tapered and the sheave/bushing compresses it on the pump shaft without the set screw... This probably doesn't help you.... lol

I got it, it did take me till midnight Sunday to get everything put back together(originally I was just planning to clean the fins on my radiator:mad:).. In the top last pic you can see the hole on the top of that plate to access the set screw. Well, this TM has 2850hrs on it and it lasted this long.. I do think I should put a new key and set screw in it.

Had the exact same thing happen. Tightened the set screw 2 years ago and it's been fine since.

Don't think I'd loctite it...... too small - i'd be afriad it'd strip if ever it needed removed, even the lowest strength.
