ok here is a very short rug class.-- Perhaps just enough info to get you into trouble-- haha
Vacuum both sides, vacuum slowly and vacuum again. I recommend the Shark and Not a vacuum with a bag.
Most the time you wont need to use any detergent if the rug has been cleaned before. flood rug with cold water using a garden hose, this will reactivate the cleaning residue left in the rug by the last cleaning.
Extract, extract, extract. do both sides. dry quickly. don't hang tufted rugs.
This short class doesn't address spots, stains and urine nor hidden land mines-- you will need to go to class for that.

That’s the class I’m looking into. I know there are a few different companies offering education. I’m under the impression that Centrum Force is the best? Any other recommendations?

Centrum Force is an equipment manufacterer that is involved in the industry.

The ARCS people and classes are a great route. That week will be a great time to really see what's possible with rug washing/restoration. Hands-on class Monday and Tuesday, Rug Summit convention Wednesday Thursday. Hands on days Friday Saturday. It'll be a great time to drop yourself in the deep end.

I already take the steps you recommend. I use cold RO water to flood. I use double strenght cleaning vinegar on urine spots on wool. I leave it to break down the urine salts for at least a few hrs, if not overnight. I then extract, and flood it again. I extract, and add my wool safe cleaner, agitate with my Brushpro w/ wool brushes, then extract. I rinse again, extract using a waterclaw, and hang to dry. I use forced air with 2-4 snail fans, and a large commercial dehu....
If any of this process is incorrect, please let me know.....

Thank you for the clarification. I’m looking forward to this program.

I just need some advice from those that do this everyday, and are comfortable with giving advice. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Jeff @ SCC

Honestly, if you're this apprehensive, pass on these, drive them to someone who knows, or vacuum both sides repeatedly and don't charge much and move on to the next thing.
Mr King has given you the BEST advise.

A swivel wand or zipper is faster and better then the water claw. If you desire better water extraction use better vacuum motor and or get a dry eze rover until u can justify a centrifuge.

It is true that Centrum Force designs, manufactures and sells equipment for Rug Washers. However, both owners wash rugs too. Greg Turcotte and I welcome anyone to wash with us at each of our own places respectively. This at no cost for this. We will show you what we have learned over the years. My personal operation is in Wayne Michigan just 10 minutes north of Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)

As promised, here are some pics of the rugs. Upon closer inspection, some are from Iran, some from India...

Thanks for sharing.

After seeing the pictures, I'd go low moisture on the red Iranian just be sure there's no color migration.

The others should be able to be wet cleaned, as long as you extract and dry as quickly as possible.

Thankfully no long fringes to clean, these all look like modern production weaving. Watch the reds, they might move a little, otherwise they should be very straight forward.

The red Iranian looks just like the one I used the compound on. I love the actual Experts here that are being helpful. I know I have much to learn when it comes to rug cleaning.

What about fringe work? Chems, tools? I have a SS uph Pro, an external jetted tool, a crevice tool. And chems? Do I want to spray the edge of the carpet with acid to prevent crocking/ bleeding? I know to use a neutral cleaner, and rinse on the acid side, and force dry quickly.... suggestions? I’ve got folding tables I’m planning on working on the fringes....

I would just use that on all of them if I were you. Fringes included.

Tamp it on the fringes with a brush, towel off, speed dry. Spray on and CRB the pile.

Vacuum both sides before and after cleaning.

It's so hard to tell someone else what to do because we all do things a little differently. These are all rugs that I have cleaned many times. You develop a feel for what might bleed and how to prevent it. I wet all of these types using products like Prochem fine fabric shampoo using a 175 with tank and brush, Prochem fine fabric prespray and sometimes a little acid to sour the solutions down to aprox 5ph. I rinse with a powerful portable using Prochem axiom neutral extraction detergent, again sometimes souring with a little acid. I flush extremely well using the Zipper and extract until I see no more moisture through the clear tube. I normally use the 175 to clean the fringes then detail them if necessary with an upholstery tool. It's okay to get them wet but you have to dry, dry, dry. If you end up having your fringes brown, use Chemspec rx for browning powder. Mix up an ounce in a spray bottle with hot water, mist on and brush out. Vacuum thoroughly before cleaning and again before you wrap them for delivery. Once I have my wash pit installed, I would have no problem washing these style rugs with full immersion. What works for me may not work for you. Sometimes, you may have identical looking rugs and one may bleed and the other wont. Often depends on what has been done to them before, excess dye stuffs, urine stains, prior cleanings, etc. I have never used an encap like releasit on rugs, have no idea how it will respond. Test, test, test.

Thankyou everyone for your response. The compound is supposed to be here this afternoon. My only concern is crocking into the fringe. But I’ve got a plan. Wish me luck.

Looking at the back of one of the Iranian rugs, Looks like the blue has already ran from previous cleanings.
I've cleaned all those same design rugs before with alot of water. The rugs had the extra risk of cleaning because they were urine soaked. Clean on the acid side. If the colors start to run keep flushing with water until the running stops. You might need to apply fringe bleach (sodium metebisulfate, or Haitian cotton cleaner) with a paint brush to the fringe to whiten them if the color ran. Fringe generally turns brown because soil and detergent is still in the rug and need to be cleaned again.
Its understandable but sad if you feel you need to do a subpar encap cleaning until you get some training. :errf:

Doug Hieferman, Joe Roberts and I will be teaching a hands-on Rug Washing class twice this year. Dates are May 22-24th in Austin TX and Nov 9th - 11th in San Diego California. The class is mostly hands-on with students washing rugs under instructor supervisions. We will be cleaning rugs that stink (urine contamination), rugs that bleed, rugs that shrink and other problem rugs. There will also be a few hours on marketing. I will be posting more details by the end of the week.

If Calgary is in your plans, visit Greg Turcotte. He is a good rug washer. His company name is Heirloom:

Are you guys planning to do a class in Calgary? It’s only about 5 hrs from me. You guys need a class in western Canada. The majority of people retire to BC. Either the Okanagan valley, or the west coast. This means that’s were the money is.......
