Was on a tile job yesterday and lost pressure. Went out to find my pump leaking oil. The plastic dipstick was even melted. That baby is fried.

Anyway, I'm trying to yank the thing, but I don't want to mess up the clutch when separating it from the pump. Any tips?

ya...remove the center bolt.....
then you'll see the large threads in the clutch 7/8 course (i believe)
screw in the 7/8 bolt till it pushes the clutch off....easy peasy!

you'll need me when yor ready to put it back on too...or you'll mess it up sure!

Yes, that's the chemical pump. I have a couple 290's myself, not aware of a last-step-style pump for them.

Get a good penetrant on those set screws - a few hours before you start work.

Great idea. Anyone else here use Kano Lab's Kroil? It's absolutely magical when it comes to loosening rusted or otherwise stuck fasteners. I literally buy it by the gallon. They also have aerosol cans of the stuff.

I'll look again....didn't see a center bolt. Didn't have great light today.

Ya might have to go to the Hardware store and get one.

I think it was 7/8 ? Luckily I got one with the van when we bought it. Keep it in your old clutch box!

Just put some penetrant on the set screws. I'll call HM to get the exact size so I don't strip 'em. Is the bastard supposed to slide right off after that, or do I need to screw in a bolt still to force it off? There is a threaded hole in the center of the clutch, but nowhere near 7/8

Kroil is the best penetrant $ can buy.

If Kroil can't get it - it's torch, cut or drill time, because nothing else will.

Hey if you have the time and the patience why not. :icon_cool:

Besides you're doing great so far. Lets see you burned up a pump and....well ok maybe "great" was a stretch. :p

Take your truck into dultmeiers in millard.
Sit in the waiting room while they put a new pump in.

Cheaper than interlink.

Just for everyone's future reference, this pump could have been bought at pressurewasherauthority.com for $275 delivered. They have a bunch of pumps. Only thing different is that it doesn't say hydramaster.

For 275, I assume that's w/o clutch? Which part number corresponds to the HM pump? Good info!
