Remodeling and finishing a basement on a rental property.

Sadly I only have weekends to work on it.

A month ago the basement was bare.

Today carpet is getting put in.

58 yards part of that is a flight of stairs.

So the guy shows at 9am. Right on time.
Gets tackless down on stairs and over cement. Lays out pad. Then sez he is taking a lunch. That's 1pm. At 4pm I text. Tell him to come get him tools as the house will be locked up for a week.

He gets back here at 4:30.

It's now 7pm and a helper arrived.

So I'm thinking I might get this installed today.

3:30 hr lunch?

So glad I clean the shit, and I don't install it for a living

I will say the install including upholstered stairs ( Hollywood or French cap ) is flawless.

Had his helper not shown I fear I'd still be there. Bad enough I did not get home till 2:30 am. ( 300 mile drive )

Is a 3 hr lunch the new norm? He sez he fell asleep.

Should have left him and told him to lock up as he leaves.

Carpet layers aren't that freaky. Are they?

Vacant house, other than many my tools of what seems to be my trade lately.

Oh well, got a head start on the main floor punch list for next weekend.

No advance pay, even more so after his lunch break.

Funny, his fee was $420.00

10 hrs for him plus a 3 hr lunch. And 4 hrs for the second guy $30. Per hr. Not bad I guess when I consider my ex brother in law has worked at a brick plant for 20 plus years and only makes $20 per hr.

Did he offer advice on how often to have it cleaned? And what type of cleaning was the best?

Turns out he cleaned for years in Vegas. Sez he had some TM with a pinto motor.
