Customer spilled furniture oil on CGD olefin a couple weeks ago.

Presprayed with Slop & Gobble (3 oz/ gal) + percarb + delim.

Scrubbed with green-stripe pad on OP machine.

Rinsed 240 degrees with Pro-Max, slow dry strokes.

Post-padded with cotton pads on OP machine.

Felt dry when I left.

Looked good to me, but anal helper (with better eyesight?) said he still saw a shadow.

Customer called a few days ago and asked if there is anything else I can do.

Is there?

Don't know whether it wicked back or residual oil attracted more dirt, or?

Encap it, or lost cause?

Much obliged,

John

Could be wicking. But, keep in mind that Olefin will drink/absorb Oil. It may also change the light refraction. It's can be like when oils gets on a polyester shirt. It may never come out completely.

Johnny,

If the customer spilled enough oil on the carpet I’m pretty sure that it soaked through the backing of the carpet. I would remix your formula of Slop & Gobble and pour the mixture on the spot. Take your foot and agitate the spot by applying pressure. This will emulsify the oil beneath the carpet. Then use a water claw with a fresh water rinse.

Thanks for the insight.

This spill is in a medical complex with noise and access limitations, so I might try encap first.

Thanks, Les. I did as you suggested and the spots remain gone after two days.

And the water claw worked?

Rinsed with the GreenHorn. Dry strokes got most of the solution out. The Water Claw got very little.
