I'm surprised you've never had Black Death or a blowout in 16 years of winding that steel braided hose onto a Butler hose reel. My Goodyear would last about a year or two at best before one of those horrible things happened . Very happy with all plastic hose like Parflex or Larry's stuff.
My '02 Butler still has only @ 950 hours on it...so theres that!

Cobb how is the thread material wrapped on the new hose holding up against dragging on concrete??

The reinforcement is protected by the clear polyurethane cover. It is the toughest material available to cover hoses.

We got at least a hundred hose sets out in the field, and haven't had to recrimp any yet. A couple have been abused to ~300' F and still did not lose any crimps.
