It will no longer carry review snippets from rival sites.(Like Yelp)

My listing changes last week putting the Google reviews above all other and removing the snippets from Judy's book and the count changed.

This also means most businesses have lost their Places citations (back links)

Check your listing (or your competition's)and see the changes for yourself.

Kudzu and Yelp still shows here, however Only 2 cleaners now show for carpet cleaning snohomish.
I'm one of them.

One local guy has 4 or 5 place listings in different cities, but only one location.

His listing is gone in google searches, but can still be found with in Google places searching company name, each location still shows.

I'm glad I only worked on Google reviews in Richardson. I was just getting ready to start a campaign on Yelp and Judy's Book asking for reviews.

Oh well.

Just the look of Google has changed but I haven't looked into the places changes.

I do know a lot of people are getting screwed up right now.

From what I have read, it only seams that Google will not be SHOWING other reviews on their places pages.

I ASSume other site reviews/citations are still going to be included as ranking factors?

No beginning or end to this, change is constant with this stuff. Which is why you want to be diverse and not put all your eggs in 1 basket. Just like offline marketing, happens faster thats all.

Judy's Book, City Search etc.. show up as only a link after a long list of Google review snippets.

For the review number (by the stars) they are only counting the Google reviews and ignoring other reviews sites even though they have the link to them posted.

They used to show up prominently with snippets above the Google reviews.

Google reviews are now dominant.

This is too bad, as Google reviews are the ones the periodically get lost.

I think citations still help ranking although they are not visible anymore in Places.
