My Irish grandmother used to take me to the St Patricks Day parade in Pittsburgh every year....she'd try to teach Gaelic...

Its a nice memory and makes the day a bit more touching.

Corn beef has been cooking all day. The whole family coming over in a couple hours for my traditional diner. I am trying a new side dish this year, bubble and squeak.

Happy St. Paddy's day to y'all! (I'm only half Irish.)

I also got the corn beef in the pot.

I thought bubble & squeak was any leftover. What's yer recipe?

Boil diced potatoes until done. That is the bubble. Remove from pan and drain. In the same pan fry up bacon until crisp, then put in cut up cabbage and saute until done. This is the squeak part. The cabbage getting stirred squeaks as it rub against itself. Then throw back in potatoes and serve.

happy St Patricks Day to All.

i grew up in Ireland and the 1st time I had corn beef was here in America in 1984. Boiled ham, cabbage, turnip and boiled potatoe were common. The only green I wore was a four leafed clover tacked to my shirt/sweater.

Bob Foster what the hell are you saying as gaelga? Not sure what you're saying in Irish?
