If you like to tinker, install your pump, fresh water tank and propane heater in trailer with small generator. Take or build a high performance portable with auto pump out into the job site. You will have truck mount like pressure and heat along with adequate vacuum. You can run all the pressure hose you want but still keep your vac hoses short.

All this wanting to be tinkering business makes me feel like you're a masochistic person.

I definitely don't like messing with work equipment in my free time....yikes.

I agree! Buy and be done with it!
Your can then start to earn money with new investment sooner.. and the unforseen problems with MacGyver porty could increase headaches.

No I think these are in Lost Wages. Close enough.

He needs to go look at them. The 405 is a lot of machine. I think the Legend for a couple of years. Get your legs under you and the buy newer and use the Legend as backup.

For the price I wouldn't bother with the legend. For the difference in price, just buy a bigger trailer or a used van and go with the 405. The legend is a good machine but just doesn't compare with the heat and vacuum of the 405. Measure twice, cut once. I should take my own advice one day. I just like quirky trucks and machines.

I've only got two left, and Justin has two. Jason slicked up his and sold it last summer, too cheap.

405 is my all time favorite for an owner operated machine, near bullet proof.

My distributor said some parts are getting scarce. He said he ordered an exhaust heat exchanger and first they said it was back ordered. Then it was decided it was no longer built.

Just glad it wasn't for one of my units. I'll switch those last three over to Everests in the next few years.

I want to have something powerful enough that it can do everything I might ever need. So for that same 5-10 grand could I build an ETM that could perform close to that?

If you mean "perform" as far as CFM/Lift/Flow ONLY as your benchmarks then, sure, but there are a lot of other intangibles when considering a home-built ETM's functionality.

Configuring and marrying all the components can be very challenging and time consuming.

Even if you accomplish getting it "roughed" together, there will usually be a sh!tload of tweaks and mods to get it to run reliably that you failed to consider.

The actual set-up, operation, and break-down of the unit will likely include many extra proprietary steps that are not necessary with most factory TM's.

Sure it can be done, but it's a lot more work than most think, and what I consider a big gamble.

I have yet to hear many, what I consider to be legitimate reasons to justify "Why" one would choose to try building one as opposed to buying a TM.

I should do it just to try it and then when it all sucks and doesn't work I'll get a truckmount. How's that?

That's all fine and dandy.............You go boy.

If you have the time and the coin to give it a go without major worries if it does not work out, then it will certainly be a learning experience at the least.

It has been said that one learns more from his failures than his successes.

I sure did.

Haven't seen one of those since 2012. Did he ever sell any. Anyone know someone who bought one and actually got it and ran it?

Only thing that ran was the guy selling them.

Shame....Because it looks like he put a sh!t ton of work into them, and they look pretty groovy.

Except for the down flow exhaust that will likely melt the plastic gate valve...........:icon_rolleyes:

I believe it was HydraMaster who had that propane TM that you could wheel into the facility... A friend converted his to a electrical shop machine...

It broke more than it worked.. It's still a decent idea if you want really have a need for it.. TM power with the convenience of portability...

It was Steam Genie that had a really nice one. We used it for many year before it had carbon head problems. We never took it out of the van but we would drive it in the mall and clean with it.

Back in the 80's we had a Workmaster hybrid vacuum with lamb bowers and Sutorbuilt combo. It was Electrical and we used it as a shop machine and would take into buildings and setup in the janitors closet as we cleaned the whole floor.
