I have 2 different keys to hook up to a rainbird system but I have never
used the purple cap that runs recycle water. Has anyone ever
hooked up to a recycle water system? I know the water is not
for drinking, but can you clean with it?

I wouldn't clean with it. City frowned upon a guy I know...in Carlsbad.

Even though a firebreather tm could maybe claim constant temperatures over boiling point, and one could make a case for it killing harmful substances, but it may not be enough to be clean enough.

The water is non-potable for the reason that it contains foreign matter, high dissolved solids, and even potential pathogens. As such, it could hardly be construed to be used to "clean" anything. If for no other reason, as it is unknown why it is non-potable.

Unless you know how well the the water has been treated, stay away. Treatment for irrigation purposes isn't the same as pure.
