Louis, I tried a normal wallpaper steamer, it only produces normal steam temp (212) A vapor steamer produces 270 degrees because it's under 100 PSI pressure. If the fibers are melted, such as in Olefin from a tool running dry and dragging across a fiber, even super heated steam isn't enough, but on the carpets we had problems with, they were both nylon and were only distorted. I think what I described above might resolve your problem.
