How are you dry vacuuming upholstery?

I've done it all and am always looking for something better, especially for pet hair.


Currently I'm really liking this gadget...Great but gentle agitation and really pulls fine dust and dander out.

No idea how long it will last but it's cheap enough online to buy twice a year if need be.

The pleated filter needs cleaning after most jobs. A good opportunity to show the client your nerdiness...

My Dyson has a brush attachment that spins with the vacuum. It doesn't remove the pet hair as much as I would like, but it works.

I generally just vac out the crumbs but if it's real bad JR will hit it with the regular vac hand tool

Use the TM suction on low speed, of course, with 1.25"vac hose with old fashioned Kirby rectangular brush tools.

i thought everyone was doing it the kirby way. just a white rag over the suction hole, showing the customer that the upholstery is filthy.

Did one today with the little short hairs stuck in the fabric. Was wishing I had the spinning attachment from my shark. I use a rubber brush that grabs the hair pretty well. The problem with the short haired dogs is some stick straight back in. Nothing worse than a black sofa with white hair.

I use the shark, usually with the rotating brush.

If they still have the offending pet I never promise 100% removal of hair, just that it's now CLEAN hair.

About time you take my advice.. Ours still going but a few spare belts and filter replacements had to be done... I like to suck the dust cup filter with the TM or portable vacuum hose after vacuuming the upholstery..

Try this: We have 2 cats at home; and I've discovered this gets the hair off a loveseat and chair that would otherwise grip the hair tenaciously, better than vacuuming alone, or anything else I've tried.
1. Cut a FiberPlus pad into small sections. I usually make them into about 4" sections.
2. Gently brush over the upholstery with the FiberPlus pad. Mounds of hair are removed.
3. Vacuum up the hair with an open vacuum hose. I use the Hoover PortaPower vac around the house.

Try the pad trick. It works great for hair removal!

for thick hair i just wet my gloves and wipe them dry and rub my hands all over and it removes a ton of hair, Then i use a rotarty brush attachment.

I use the Proteam Backpak or Riccar Radiance with attachments. I don't buy cheap vacuums. I have 4-5 of those in the garage broken down already

Are the sharks really that good ? Costco has them on sale often for a great price.
