How do you stop anonymous edits on you Google Places page?

Somebody edited my address on my google places page and it dropped my down two spots.

I thought that owner verified listings could only be edited by the owner?

If I wanted to be a dick,
I could bump most of my local competitors off Places by complaining to Google that they are violating Googles terms of service (address is storage unit or a box at the UPS store). The rest will be, uh I mean could be destroyed by complaining to the city that they are running a business in a residential zone.

Some guy with an indian accent just called to confirm my address, but he had it totally wrong after I corrected him, they changed it, but didn't give the suite number and still posted the wrong phone number after confirming it.

the @googleplaces on twitter has a few other complaining about the same thing. It appears others are getting punked also.

Well, I am back to my #C listing in places(I was at letter F), although they still haven't corrected the suite number or the phone number. At least it is one of my phone numbers, just not the one I use for advertising. I suppose it could be worse.

A lady on the #googleplaces on twitter said her listing has been wrong since the 12th and the name is wrong and the phone number is actually her fax number. So I am fairing pretty well considering.

Hmmm, I got an email in the middle of the night saying that my problem was corrected......now, my entire google places listing is missing. I am disappoint.

Hopefully it comes back, that's much worse than having an edited listing.

Last week, after disappearing totally from Google Places, they put me back at my normal C listing, but again had the wrong address, but the right phone number.

Tonight I am at A listing with the wrong address and right phone number. :|

I'm just going to leave it alone.

All you can do is make sure YOU put in the right info. Google usually gets it right after some time. Sometimes it's longer than others.

I've been gone, moved around, top and bottom....It generally works out in the end...It just has to settle down.

Yeah, as long as the phone number is there.... but what's weird is that the position changes depending on whether or not I am logged into google services or which operating system/device I am using.

Google remembers you...Esp if you're logged in.

You need to delete your cookies, refresh your browser, take a left at Albuquerque and it will be fine.

I found that google some times combine similar listings. I just report the problem in your google places page as the business owner. They usually fix it pretty quick.

I've found my website address on other listings before.

A company that big, can't be perfect.

The owner, and Google employees.

I believe that "Anonymous", as well as "The Cleaner" are merely generic names for any employee within Google who oversees, edits, verifies, moderates, and approves or denies change requests to Places listings.

They will sometimes attempt to call you from the 650 area code to verify info before making a change, so if you see 650 area code pick up instead of sending to VM.

They don't always get it right, and when they don't, it puts a ripple in your ranking.
