Re: HOW TO UNSTICK A STUCK TRUCKMOUNT BLOWER FOR BRENT !!!!!
Great video as always, Les.
In looking at it, I found it interesting to see a different way to un- stick a blower than the way I do it.
What I do differently is loosen all casing bolts, front and back, before trying to turn it. (The lobes have thousandths of an inch clearance with the end plates, too. And if you look at the surface area there- at the plates, it's a lot more than the area between the lobes at any point of rotation. So loosening the plates really widens that space and reduces the "drag" caused by corrosion build- up.) Then I try to "bump" the blower rotation by bumping the key switch on the system engine. If it doesn't budge, then I pull out the pipe wrench. If I have to put so much torque on it that I can feel the shaft begin to "flex", then I remove the blower from the system and take the front (shaft side) plate off of the blower entirely, to look more closely at what I'm dealing with. (It's pretty amazing just how much "stuff" gets caked inside of a blower that has thousands of an inch clearance to move around.) Usually, if I gt in deep enough to take the shaft- side plate off, I go ahead and take the casing off as well, so I can look at the back of the lobes and the gear- side plate. (I've only had to do that mebbie 5 times and virtually always with a blower that had been just "sitting there", collecting dust and corrosion, for a year or more.)
Doing it your way obviously works well and would definitely be the better way to go on a DSL blower.
Thanks for the illustration.
