We gone all over this in another thread. I have only had aluminum tanks. Only time I had a problem was after 34 years with the same tank. That tank out lived 3 truckmounts. On that thread there were a couple aerotech/vortex tm's that had tank issues. If you don't rinse your tank, it's gonna stink. Stainless or otherwise.

In the other thread we decided that the reason your old waste tank lasted so long was because either the chemicals of 34 years ago weren't so destructive to aluminum or... the current aluminum tanks of today aren't as well made or thick...something different... from the old tanks. Stainless Steel is obviously better. Would be great if manufacturers would all upgrade to stainless.

It comes down to maintenance. I have a mid 90's aluminum tank sitting outside in my shop yard in great shape. I have a friend who has the same tank in his truck and just had to pull it and weld the bottom. No matter what your tank is made of, you have to clean it once in a while or suffer the consequences. I have a sani dump at the shop. When I finish dumping, I fill the tank about half full and dump it. Although my truck is old, it doesn't smell.

Does anyone actually have a x-drive yet? How is it working in the real world?

Yes, there are a few that have been out for over a year for field trials. Believe they are going into full production soon. Not sure on the date though.

Real question is the market for a $66 K package.

My customers would prefer 2 TM's with extras for that price.

P.S. The two Electric TM's our customer has are still humming quietly.
Tesla is promising a couple of trucks now.

Be nice to have hydrogen fuel celled vehicle and electric full power TM. Probably not too far into the future.
