Now that I'm a born again OP gawd, I'll have to find some square pads to exorcize the demons from the LVP.

Sorry to pick in you Bill but Jon Don's new Dave Howard is wanting you here..

Bill where are these classes held? Genny and I would be interested in attending.

I would like to learn more about coated manufactured hardwood flooring too.
Steve they are located at all of our stores the day before an IICRC CCT or UFT. They are free and last 2-3 hours.

Once we open our new Anaheim store we will schedule them there also.

@billyeadon Does shaw have any concerns on cleaning carpet tile that has been installed with the LOK-DOT system? What are their recommendations? I tried to research it but couldn't find anything.

It seems all the carpet manufacturers are going to some sort of dot system for adhesive. This is the result of the big issue back in the early 90s where we had huge lawsuits about the odor carpet adhesive left in a building. If it is a decent product (carpet tile) HWE should not have any bad effects on a carpet tile. This keeps in mind that you are using a product that has a pH under 10.

When cleaning with HWE, there isn't any concern about water getting under the carpet tile at the seams?

Cleaning the newer types of vinyl plank flooring is easy..

its the older pergo type floors that are hard to tell if they are waterproof or not... always can be wiped wet of course but actually rinsing them with a wand or using a hydroforce some can not take the moisture well if it gets down in between planks.

on older ones how do you tell if they are waterproof enough?

When I installed mine I wanted to be sure so I took scrap pieces and soaked them in water, no damage.

Not if the tiles are installed properly. Some facility managers are concerned about access floors because all their computer and phone wires are under the tiles. Normally I would pull 2 tiles and place a Kleenex under the area where the tiles meet and then clean. Clean over the tiles then pull them back and pull out the dry Kleenex.

If laminate flooring had stopped with Pergo laminate would have been just fine. It is when every manufacturer tried to make it cheaper that the problems began. I am hoping the same thing doesn't happen with LVT. But with most of it coming from China and the tariffs beginning I am nervous.

They already had one with the carpet liquidators incident, tons of cheap flooring with formaldehyde off gassing in peoples homes.

It was all over the news here, just in this area carpet liquidators had to flip the bill for removing tons and tons of freshly installed flooring.

I'm still very grateful for the many mill tour Bane arranged back then, and for meeting people like Bill Yeadon early in our careers.
I here Bane was one of a kind fella, gentleman and a scholar and an ole timer with a right spirit that could sell snow to eskimos.

Bill Y intent was and still is with the heart of teaching wanting to help you become better and succeed.

wouldnt a squeege wand work better?
I have a couple squeegee wands and they work better than any glided wand probably due to some modifications.

The real danger in using a glided want is no matter how careful you are "someday"
there will be that tiny little stone fragment or glass shard stuck in the glide that you do not see
and boy your floor looks wonderful while wet.

Then it drys and you stand back and say "OH SHIT" where did all those tiny scratches come from?
And you might end up refinishing or replacing a floor.

Ask me how I know.
