soaking a tufted carpet?

good luck
No, this is actually a custom cut piece of carpet with the edges sown. Normal primary and secondary backing like normal residential carpeting. But this has so much urine in it, I took it to the shop to really clean it good. I can flush all day in a controlled environment.

at some point the latex is going to say FU and go gooey.

with a loose carpet, you'll see it happen

all that WTW you've been making gooey for years as a premium Urine Specialist is about to come to light...

It's better than the alternative.

Go for it Damon & don't believe everything Mr P says..
Back in the day when we lifted carpet at flood jobs and bought back for in-plant drying I do not recall ever seeing that happen. Similarly we often do carpet squares from preschools as a pit wash with no problems.
Cheap tufted backed Asian rugs are a different story.

That's what I used to do. Hit it with an acid first to break up the salts and flush, then follow with a deo/oxidizer. Pretty good combo.
When acid is the preferred method on absorbent wool that the IICRC teaches us, it's obvious that it should be the best and quickest method on aDsorbent synthetic. These guys on here still want to waste time trying to feed enzymes.

Sort of situational though. If it was an extreme situation where pad replacement wasn't happening and it was over subfloor, we would sometimes inject enzyme(Un-Duz-It back in the day) first to get the breakdown process started. Especially on older/higher frequented urine spots. Then acid w/ dwell, flush, then oxidizer.

I think enzymes have their place for situations and they tend to work better than just fufu spray and leave behind pairing agents. But a lot of the enzymes have oxidizers in them so it is a 2 for 1 deal for the staining, so I get why people use them. Especially if you have techs to make it less complicated.

I just have a little spotting machine and when our dog had accidents while potty training. I absorbed as much as possible with a towel and put a 30 lb kettlebell weight on it for a day. Then came back with some Pro's Choice UPT and rinsed with procyon and some odorcide. Haven't had wicking or residual odor issues. But could definitely tell the UPT was breaking up any residual salts when I first applied it.

We don’t tell you how to build websites

Don't make me get the stool! I've been cleaning carpets again lately too.

But really, my sister and brother-in-law started a jani/maid company a few years ago and I've helped them with some starting money to venture into carpet cleaning starting in August. I wasn't about to let them do the porty brigade but we found a nice used Butler. Helped them get some apartments from some old contacts of mine. So they're doing both the jani and carpet cleaning part for them. Figured it was a good training opportunity for them before they get into residential.
