I got some sticky black crap on my solution hose and got lazy and didn't clean it off like an idiot.

So I'm doing this job today, and it's sitting on this carpet for about 1.5hrs and my customer notices a brown line on the carpet from my hose. I know, I'm a dumb ass.

So I used Pro's choice Power Gel (black tube), rinse, some PIG, rinse, then an alkaline liquid spotter, rinsed again.

Now I just have a shaded line from it. It was originally a skinny line that looked like a burn mark, but you could tell close up that it was the black stuff from the hose.

I'm going back monday to work on it.
I plan on pre spraying with some Matrix Olefin, do an acid rinse, then if it's still there, I'm gonna spray lightly with 100% citrus Force and agitate, then rinse again. If that doesn't fix it...any ideas?

I was thinking solvent. I use banes safety solve.
I ordered some OJ gelled citrus solvent today. I'm thinking I might try that on it as well. I thought the Power gel was a solvent, but it wasn't completely clear. And I think you're supposed to mix it with the yellow tube of theirs and I ran out of it.

Just for the heck of it...hit it with some wd40. Could work surprisingly well. It's not easy to rinse though....

I forgot to mention that I tried that also. Notta

I was using my upholstery tool to get more heat and better rinsing off of it.

Delimonene tends to bond with olefin and is very hard to rinse completely out.
I'd try other solvents before, as well as gentle agitation. Some time we forget that agitation can do a lot of good (the forgotten part of TACT) as well as some dwell time (the other forgotten :winky:). If agitating olefin remember that dry friction can melt it.

For tar I have used delamoline on a towel and worked the tar into the towel, works like magic. Then you gotta rinse, rinse rinse.

I agitated and let that pro's choice solvent dwell for about 10-15min while I was cleaning the other side of the room. I worked on that line for about an hour with all the different attempts combined.

I figured when I start it next week: If I start it with the olefin pre spray, it might loosen up whatever is holding on. Then I can either try it again with the oj citrus solvent or delimonene. I'm just shooting in the wind after that

Get a Zipper and your jobs won't take sooo long........:stir:

Do you have steel braided solution hose? I use par flex but I have a thing on consistently moving my line so it doesn't dry the carpet...

Good advice from some OG's like Ofer and L. Stockwell.......... Old Geezers......... What we are learning, they're trying to forget or remember.....:shifty:

Power Gel is an emulsifier. Surrounding the spot with Power Gel before applying Pro Solve will keep the spot from spreading.

Something that I have found with this type of issue is that sometimes our efforts can be wasted when we over fill the fibers with product and moisture; there seems to come a point when there's no more room for product to work.

I hope it works out for you.
